My Little Vista
All kinds of art & crafts, infused with laughter and fun!
The various stages of a lino print, from the reference picture to the final print. I love this hare!
Well, here he is again, my favourite Hare model, appearing in linocut this time π. I just love him, as his pose makes it so easy to give the impression of movement.
There are three layers of cutting in this one, the green & white on the first layer, terracotta on layer two, then black on the top layer.
I didn't think I was feeling particularly gloomy today, but when I stood back and looked at the charcoal painting I had done, I think I need to get out more, and listen to less Edith Piaf !!π
Today's painting - a profile portrait in grey acrylic on yellow gesso background.
This weekend's art is sticking with the seaside theme - A mussel shell on the sand, done in soft pastel on a coloured paper.
Pondering today how long it has been since we were at the coast, so did a couple of little watercolours of the sea ππ
Today's art is three for the price of one! 'Urban Meadow' 1,2,& 3 mini-art works. Only 8.5 x 5.5 cm, acrylic background and screen-print foreground. These will be joining all the other brilliant mini pieces on a board up town somewhere next week.
Today's bit of art - Sunrise over the Meadow. This is using a gel print background and some silk-screen prints in acrylic paint at the front. ππΎπ±πΏ
Today's painting - An oil ballet study- as near to doing ballet as I will ever get !π
For National Bee Day, today's artwork had to Bee a Bee!
Today's arty play is a lino-cut of a pied wagtail, printed onto a previously printed background. As you can see, my positioning need a bit of work, but that's how we learn!!π
Today sketch. 'Is that a biscuit you have there Mum?'
Today's artwork - a bit of mixed media. A pastel sketch of the kingfisher, on a gesso background, with splatters added in gouache paint, then the whole thing subjected to a Photoshop filter to break up the edges.
Today I should have been practising my acrylic portrait lesson, but had just bought myself some new charcoal sticks, so just HAD to play with them!!! Back to proper practise tomorrow π
Barey Wifey Alert!!
A different direction for today's sketch - Soft Pastel on a coloured background, with some stencils added for funπ
Today's painting - a watercolour of the Montecatini Spa, near Florence, courtesy of my son's photo.
Todays sketch is a charcoal Dormouse. Not snoozing for a change, but nibbling!
This week's portrait. Who wouldn't want to draw a portrait looking right up someone's nose???
"It's all good practice in perspective " says our tutor.........π€£
This weekends painting is a portrait, using a print background, black & white pencil drawing, then acrylic glaze for the coloured bits. A slow process, as each layer needs to dry before the next one goes on - very taxing for somebody like me, who has the patience of a flutterby!
More printing experimentation today. A soft pastel sketch, printed with a distressed gold background. The print was transferred using my Gelli plate, and the gold background is acrylic paint. Fun, food and bling - my three favourite things! πππ
Night Wol! Oil Pastel sketch, mucked about with in Photoshop π
Today's print - a watchful fox π¦. This is oil pastel sketch onto a printed background.
A little bit of whimsy for this Saturday afternoons art. Mixed media, using acrylic paint, gel print background and some bits of collage. Who can resist a bit of purple hair?π
What do you do with your Christmas Chrysanthemums when they are on their way to the compost bin? Well - make art out of them obviously!!!!
Gel Plate printing with a variety of acrylic paint colours.
This week's sketch is soft pastel on cream paper.
Every evening the crows and rooks fly over us on their way home. Restful and eerie at the same time!
First portrait of the year from my portrait course for 2023 was met with dread, as I saw it was to be a self portrait! Just taking a picture of myself was bad enough, but then having to paint it π³!. However, once I started work, and was studying the photo for lights and darks, seeing the face angles, measuring the proportions against each feature, I forgot it was a face,my face, and just got on with it. ππππππ
Thank you all for your comments and opinions re which painting to submit. The old bearded man was the most popular, so he has been sent off. I had to name the picture, so he became 'The Seer'. Fingers crossed for me ππ€.
Hi Chaps! I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to enter one of my portraits into an art competition. I cannot decide between the three below. I love them all for different reasons. What are your thoughts?
