Dial Lane is an Aladdin’s cave for books (and there will be more authors signing tomorrow evening including own ) so if children’s books are not your thing you’re bound to find other gift gems for your loved ones!
Also excited to meet artist and avid picturebook collector so bookshops are great not just for presents but for connecting with people too!

What a window eh 😍
I think it’s a given that I’ll be leaving this up for the entirety of January to try and combat the January blues. Hell … I may leave the tree and the decorations up too 👊🏼
Anyway, in today’s window you’ll find books by those coming into the shop today to sign some books, quaff some mulled wine/Prosecco, chat to some customers and to add add extra body heat👊🏼
So looking forward to this! Will be at Dial Lane Bookshop in Ipswich this coming Thursday, signing books and more! Come and say hello and check out the wonderful books that Dial Lane stock, they make excellent Xmas presents! 📚🎁🎄

What a treat - a trip to Ipswich to visit the ‘Picturebooks for All’ exhibition at The Hold, showing works from the great Ipswich printers, W S Cowell & Co, many from . Lovely to catch up with my former students, and , co-curators of this marvellous exhibition, along with Thoroughly recommended!
Presenting Dial Lane Books, Ipswich’s only independent bookshop proudly owned by Andrew and supported by Jonsey The two of them pictured here at their pop up shop for the Private View of the exhibition last night which was just fabulous! Thank you both for being part of this! ❤️🖼📚
Dial Lane Books is a gem of a store and as well as all selling a seemingly endless number of marvellous books they will have copies of all the picture books exhibited in ‘The Picture Book Today’ section of the exhibition.
🙌👌🖼📚
This is The Hold, one of Suffolk Archive’s three branches that look after 900 years worth of Suffolk’s archival heritage.
Their current exhibition from today and until 8th January 2023, aptly named Picture Books For All, is dedicated to the Ipswich printers W.S. Cowell, who amongst other things were key in the launch of the Puffin Picture Book series.
If you are interested in history, printing, books, design, and illustration don’t miss the opportunity to visit!
I will be posting some highlights over the days to come as I imagine will be and who spent the last three years working on this with passion and enthusiasm.

Chuffed to join the research journey about a year ago. Have learnt so much, thank you and . The discussions, debates and hunts for material has been great fun.
Many more thanks to come for those that have supported this and contributed, so watch this space and plan your visit! 😘
Always good to see where the books get to. Spotted recently at bookshop, Cambridge, U.K. and in a bookshop all the way in Portland, USA!

Thank you and for snapping away and documenting the book’s journey! ❤️❤️
Microplastics, such as copolymers, can be found in sunscreens and many other beauty products, they have many names and acronyms so knowing what is safe can be hard work 😖🤯
If you are unsure about what is safe and what isn’t, download the free app from www.beatthemicrobead.org and start checking what you are using. Without doubt you will face some disappointment but there are other safer products out there… and who doesn’t like to discover new and better things?😘

Hot like a desert in the U.K.? 🏜
From ‘Hoot and Howl Across the Desert’ one of my favourite desert animals is the jackrabbit. It can build up a speed of 60km/h and uses its large ears to cool down from the heat. Stay cool everyone! 😎☀️🌵🐰

It was great fun to have the opportunity to discuss nonfiction picturebooks with fabulous and so talented and the brilliant Daniel Hahn at this week.
Thank you so much to for organising this with our publishers
So many beautiful books were on display and it was good to see old friends again and meet new people. Inspired and excited for the future which is quite something during these troubled times.
Scroll for a few snaps from inside Aina’s fantastic book ‘How life on Earth Began’. I cannot recommend this or her other books enough. They are full of exciting layers, packed with information and the turning of every page is simply a joy. 🦕🔍💙
The London Book Fair is back on this year and very excited to be participating. Especially excited that I will be meeting the amazing author/illustrator and writer/translator Daniel Hahn and that I will have the opportunity to discuss with them my favourite subject… nonfiction picturebooks!!
🎉Thrilled to find out that “Dart and Dive Across the Reef” has won a gold🥇award for the “Book for 5-8 year olds” category of the 2022 Made for Mums Awards.🎉
So chuffed with the incredibly lovely comments from the parents and children that voted. Thank you so very, very much. 💛🙏💛
Congratulations to all the other winners of a great selection of amazing books. And especially to my super publishers that are behind quite a few of these. 👏👏👏👌👌👌
Was looking through some files and came across this little illustration of a Caribbean reef octopus. It didn’t make it into the Reefs books because we ran out of space. If seek out an octopus enough times, they can get to know you and trust you and even start to hang out with you. And that’s amazing. And yes I may be missing the sea a little… 🤔

Just been sent these pictures from my World Book Day workshop with Year 3 at St Mary’s School Colchester. I think their designs are brilliant! Loved spending time with these girls, a very special day. Thanks again for having me 🐠🐟🎨📚
Love the way my Romanian publishers promote my book Dart and Dive Across the Reef and great to see the title in another language. Thank you 💙💙

🎊Happy Lunar New Year to all those celebrating! 🎊🐯🏮🧧
This cross section diagram is from part of a very small but very important animal. I made it for one of the books but it didn’t get used in the end so probably needs a little more work and some labels. Can you guess which animal it is from? 🤔🤓
