Jono is a graduate from the University of Cape Town, who now works in a Growth role at The Delta, one of South Africa's leading technology startups. During his time at university he ran the UCT GDSC, and has since supported GDSCs around the world as an alumnus. He enjoys speaking about tech, leadership, building communities, data science, and enacting change in Africa, and has had speaking opportunities in six countries to date. In his free time he loves reading, gaming, and learning Japanese.

"Allela Eunice is a software developer and community manager who is passionate about Android, Data Science, and other emerging technologies.

Over the years, she has engaged in various programs such as MobiGalz, Technovation Challenge, and Grace Hopper Celebration that aims at increasing the visibility of women in the tech space.

During her free time, she mentors, coaches, and aids her peers in coming up with innovative solutions to problems within the ecosystem.

Currently, she serves as the developer relations community manager at Google via Stratostaff for Sub Saharan Africa where she works towards increasing developer engagement with experts across the region. Her in-depth expertise in the developer community is a result of her previous volunteer experience as a lead community organizer for Kisumu, Kenya.

She is also a coach for the Digital Opportunities Trust Street Youth, which is a coordinated support network of youth in Africa and the Middle East who are responding to COVID-19 with needs-based interventions."

β€œI am currently doing my honours at the University of the Western Cape. I am interested in solving diverse problems in different fields using Mathematics and various technologies. My interests include exploration of new technologies and how they could be used to solve the world’s greatest problems.

Meet Mr Henny, Supervisor of GDSC UWC! πŸ§‘πŸ½β€πŸ’»

β€œMr. Andre Henney obtained his M.Sc from the University of the Western Cape focussing on Embedded Systems. He is currently completing his PhD with UWC, working as part of the BANG research group, focusing on ICT solutions for the Deaf community using mobile phones.

His current research interest is ICT4D, IoT, Networking and Cyber Security and the interworking of these fields. He currently holds the position of lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, University of the Western Cape.

Prior to joining UWC as a Chief Officer, he was employed at the South African Post Office Trust Centre as a systems engineer.”
