Our Story
Our mission began in late 2018 after a bad dining experience that lead us to embark on a search for restaurant’s health inspections in our city. We quickly realized that the health information was extremely valuable and needed to be easily accessible to everyone. We looked for other sites on the Internet but did not find user-friendly or health scored focused websites, so we decided to create Hestia Score.
With Hestia Score we want to help generate a shift in the way consumers choose restaurants before going out. We believe that selecting restaurants based solely on their taste and vibe is no longer enough and that their sanitation and cleanliness procedures are equally important.
Our goal is that when you come to our site you can get these two questions answered about a given restaurant: How are their sanitation and food preparation practices? and How are they rated in terms of taste and customer service by other users? The answers to these questions will help create a peace of mind while eating out during these changing times.
There is just so much value in the information captured by our local health departments that we consider it crucial to have it at the fingertips of every consumer. Restaurants, more often than not, put all efforts to comply with their local health laws and also deserve to be acknowledged for their commitment to cleanliness and safe food handling procedures.
