220 Gallery held an opening last night. It was brilliant to meet so many artist people there, especially my talented friend Mary Owens 💖

My Aunt Jean's candle. She was always an inspiration, an example of someone who was herself in this sea of people striving to fit in. She gave me freedom to not spend my life trying to be something/someone I wasn't. Against many odds, here I am, many decades later, honoring her - my key to REAL.

Sometimes fun can also be art✨

I love creating with the door open. There's plenty of natural light, with the cupola and windows, but opening the door adds new dimensions.

Loving my studio time. More creations are unfolding and the process is full of revelation.

Next stage, now that all the cutting is done. I can do more ink work on the pages that are waiting, or I can begin assembly 🤔 I love creating ✨

Patchwork flower project. The individual parts make a whole. Each part is unique, as is each member of a family. Knit together they make something much larger than the individual parts 💖

Latest projects with inspired people ✨💖

So many ways to express ourselves! Just getting dressed in the morning brings my imagination alive.

Creating was fun yesterday! Intent focus brought a colorful basket to life. It will be holding doll accessories in this sweet girl's room.

These two persevered and completed the coolest projects! Imagination stars ⭐✨🎉

Even preparing meals is an art! Everyone is creative in one way or another. When (and where) do you find yourself being creative?

Fluttering and free! Our imagination can go anywhere when we enter the world of play. We relax, drop our guard, and get real with ourselves, dropping all expectations.

Wonder Studio classes are up and running for May and June. Small classes mean more hands on guidance for students. Let me know. More sessions (and imaginations) opening up!

Inspiration from another beautiful day!

Last week was icy, so we painted the ice!

I won't be back in the studio for a while, but it's all cleaned up and ready to start classes again. Message me if you, your child or a friend want to take a winter art class.

Closed out the year using donated supplies and added twinkle lights. A sweet time indeed. Shine bright, little trees 🥰🌲🌲🌲

The whole earth is filled with His creative glory! GOOD Morning!

Shadow play this time of year is so engaging. The angle of light gives us the same information with effects that are different from summertime's intensity. There's a softness - a release of the direct harshness of summer heat. And shadows feel like a dancing blanket, ready to wrap around you as they prepare for winter.

Sunrises and sunsets are on the short list of things that are constant in this world. They are different each time, but always present themselves at the expected time of day.

Art is much less predictable. To be an artist is to be part of a process of letting go expectations, predictably and attachment to watch your work... Become.

I was late for an appointment, but I still stopped for a pic of the River Road geese. Not a great pic, but it's captured in my mind with clarity.

Embracing an experience adds to our appreciation of life. Right before I saw these geese I had had an encounter with a couple of goats on the same road. I was already full of Wonder, but this was icing on the cake!

Can you think of any back-to-back experiences that made a difference in your life?

Color brings joy. I think we all respond to color, whether we are aware or not. I've seen visceral reactions to color, words like "hate" and "divine" used about color. It's no accident that there are so many colors around us.

What's your favorite color?

It doesn't take long for littles to start creating. They jump in and begin their work without hesitation.

As adults, we spend more time anticipating, planning, deciding, hoping it will all come together as we hold expectations over our heads.

Life has taught us much, so we adults hold back and wrestle with ourselves and the unknown.

Remember now that art is safe. You don't need to judge yourself when there's an idea or concept that NEEDS to come out. Just let it out!

New series developing. I set it aside for a while but am picking it back up.

It's good to set things down for a while. The designs will continue to process in what I call "the back of your brain", even if you haven't looked at the work for months... even years. Especially if you're a artist.

It will come full circle. The design and methods will come together and you can complete the project with great ease.

How does this work for you?

Figuring things out is a part of doing art. Sometimes there's a plan, a sketch, a foundation. Other times you just "go for it" and whatever comes out is what it is. But during the process you are constantly making decisions (consciously or unconsciously), about color, placement, materials, tools, viscosity, added elements, proportion, levels, planes... It goes on and on.

In this picture we are measuring and approximating the workings of some functional art. Working together can bring some surprising results!

Artists keep creating because they can't help themselves 🌿🦋✨🥰

It's interesting how random bits of life can awaken something within, a sort of longing knowing, a sense of "I've been there!" with a subtle leaping of the heart.

Growing things always inspire the growth of ideas in my head. There's a flow and order in nature that is contagious. I can't help but let it process through my heart, brain and spirit to then come out into whatever I'm working on...

Today's last Summer Fun Class will have more surprises in store. Can't wait to see what treasures emerge!

There's something about a project in motion. All the planning, prepping, instructing and releasing of the vision turns into reality through little minds and fingers. The interpretation becomes expression with paints, markers, color selection, nature, weaving and glue.

I'll post the finished projects tomorrow. They're worth the suspense 🌿🦋🎉💖
