Farming Simulator Modder/Mapper

20/08/2024

Hi folks! Get your milk and feed pails, because Stitzer is going to be released for public testing on Thursday, August 22nd over on my itch.io page!

There is a lot I need to say about the map. For starters, I would like to thank all of my Patrons for supporting me for this long. While working on Stitzer, I managed to convert six maps, two of which I released publicly. Thank you Patrons for your patience during that time! I have a lot of fun projects, including Mercer County, that I would like to share with you guys on the Discord!

I will have a separate post regarding credits to mod makers, and thank you's to the handful of people who helped me along the way.

Having said all of that, I want to let you guys know how all of this will shake down. Similar to how I released Lincoln Creek in 19 and Medicine Creek in 22, I will give Stitzer two weeks of public testing. I will fix whatever issues come up during that time while adding more to the map. I will have a post for reporting issues. If you find an issue, please first confirm it is not a mod conflict, then come to this page and report it. A general rule of thumb is to replicate the error without mods, using base game equipment. There will be a WIP guide that will be released with the map.

Some features I would like people to keep in mind before reporting issues:

1. This map runs on Seed Extension, meaning has its own seed system. Regular seeds do not work with this map. You must use the seeds provided in the map. There are seeds for Corn, BMR Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Oats, Alfalfa, Triticale, and more to be added soon.

2. Regular corn cannot be chopped. BMR Corn, which has higher feed value in real life, should be used instead.

3. I am currently working on market prices, but so far corn, soybeans, bmr corn, and milk are priced according to real life pricing, making the climb a lot more difficult. Seeds are also VERY expensive, however, seed usage is a lot lower.

4. This map operates on its own Animal Food ingredients. Maizeplus is not compatible. The map works best with Enhanced Animal System, but that is not required. My goal is to edit EAS specifically for this map.

5. This map has its own fertilizers. I am still working on a mixing station for these. But for now, the solid fertilizer additions only work with the provided spreaders. You must add the filltypes to your own spreaders if you want them to be compatible with the map. Liquid fertilizers work with every sprayer. Manure spreaders can now spread lime and liquid manure (typically the Kuhn slinger spreaders are used for this).

6. There is CRP ground on the map. In order to enter it, you must buy the land and delete the sign. I intend on adding a bunch more CRP ground with fields that courseplay can recognize.

7. The dealership opens at 7/8 and closes 12 hours later. The lights are off when the dealership is closed, so when you're shopping, the shop is dark. You can open the doors and turn on the lights on your own though!

8. I am working with Simulation Station on hammering out tutorials for this map. He will be releasing videos over on his Youtube channel just like he did with Ashton Corners!

9. Next step for me is to test out Multiplayer and ensure everything works properly.

Lastly: I am beginning to accept the fact that this map may never be finished in my eyes. It is certainly finished when compared to many other maps, especially after this testing phase. But in my eyes, there is so much I want to add to the map. I'm hoping to complete that vision in FS25. I will be playing the sh*t out of this map before FS25 right alongside many of you, and I will be streaming a bunch. I will update the map at least once a month leading up to FS25! Thank you all!

Next up: Console Map.

Photos from MRG Mapping's post 11/08/2024

A couple updates from me:

1. I will releasing Stitzer, WI on August 22nd. It will be released as a public beta for around two weeks, just like we did with Medicine Creek, then it will be released as version one. I will have a bunch of posts leading up to release day, so stay tuned!

2. Given the amount of time left until FS25 is released, it is unlikely I will be able to get Courtland and Lincoln Creek released publicly. I will continue to work on them in the hopes of releasing them in FS25 at some point. I will continue updates to the maps on my Discord, but that will be it.

3. I will be releasing Mercer County on my Discord in September. I'm really only aiming to work on the starting farm, and make the rest of the farms either land for building on or decorative farms. I'm going to be modeling new buildings for the main farm as a precursor to the future 4x of the map.

4. I will be making a console map for FS25! I've already decided on the location. More on that later.

Lastly, I've done a bunch to overhaul this free stall on the NW dairy! Still a little bit more work to do, but I like how it turned out.

Class act move right here. Go support this man!

John Deere 300 update!!!

I have been contacted by the original modder and we’ve come to a resolution. First off I wanted to say that I support the idea of the mod, just not the use of my assets without permission. I want this mod to still be available to everyone and enjoyed by all.

Therefore, we’ve decided that he will re upload the mod once I am able to provide him a new and updated model that he can use for it that has my permission.

As I see it, that model was 4 years old and needed to be updated anyways. This is my way of making both parties happy. On my side, I get to provide a new high quality model of the 300 to you guys, and in return the other author can still release his ear corn mod, but now with a new and improved model.

I’m doing this for the sake of the community, I don’t like when older models get a coat of lipstick and then shoved out as “new and impoved.” I had just started modeling back then and I know I can make it much better now. I will make this model my new priority and then I will be able to provide it to that author and both parties benefit.

I hope this resolution works for everyone affected, and to you the community. I’m a part of the modding community and so are they. I want us collectively to work together to make the best products we can offer and this is my way of resolving the issue.

Photos from Tired Iron Modding's post 09/08/2024

Pretty egregious. I’m all for editing public mods, but I’ve also been making efforts to change my own policies on using assets and reaching out for permissions when I can. Uploading this to Modhub without even asking Tired Iron Modding is pretty wild. The thing is he probably would’ve given permissions and guidance if the modder would’ve come to him initially, and console players wouldn’t be denied a great and much needed mod.

STITZER by MRG 08/08/2024

Hey folks! I'm back from a weeklong fishing trip on the Colorado River. Needless to say it was beautiful. I highly recommend visiting Grand Lake and stopping by Kirk's Fly Shop who were incredibly helpful.

Now, onto the good stuff. If you have already seen it, go check out Simulation Station's map tour of Stitzer, which includes the updated farms in the NW quadrant that I haven't ever made a video of. I will be working with Simulation Station to help him put out videos on his channel explaining how play the map and the various farms. I'll be posting a lot of information here in the coming days, but for now, I'm going to be resting and gearing up for release!

Stitzer, Wisconsin 4x | Release Trailer 08/07/2024

Hi folks!

I put together a little trailer for Stitzer. This is in no way a vanity project, or showing off, or whatever some of you want to believe. I did it because I thought it would be fun to make a trailer for one of my maps! Enjoy!:

Little edit to this shed so you guys can have a place to buy the new seed types! I based it off of a Morton shed. Still working on the interior. I am your new Pioneer sales representative and I will rip you off.

Cheers!

Photos from MRG Mapping's post 21/06/2024

Hi folks! More progress every day. Had to go with the Prairie State Dealership on this one, its too nice! The dealership opens at 8:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. You cannot retrieve your purchases outside of that time. The vehicle purchase screen is now inside the dealership. You will not be able to see what you're purchasing in the store (at least not very well), because the lights are off, because they're closed, duh.

I've started putting in an ATV trail through one of the wooded areas. Probably will put a campsite down there somewhere too, but these are not a primary focus.

Lastly, I'm adding static, unused equipment laying around the map. I know this will have an effect on map size, and possibly affect performance for some of you, so I will come up with a way to sell it all. So far, no performance drops (again, so far).

More to come! Cheers!

19/06/2024

The 19th and final farm on Stitzer is in! This is one of the very few grain farms on the map. Tucked away in the NW corner, it is also the farthest away from the sell point. The terrain of the NW corner also happens to be the best in the map.

Onto final detailing, then ironing out functionality (SeedExtension, Precision Farming, and the new Fert types). Getting closer!

How to Make a Map 15/06/2024

Hey folks!

Today I am releasing part of my map making lessons over on Youtube. These lessons are a little old, and some have been updated on the website where there are over 40 lessons covering a number of different topics beyond this playlist. I've personally advanced far beyond these lessons, as I've learned a ton, especially working on Stitzer. I will be updating them on the website in a newer course that implements the new DEM method that gets you the coveted 1 meter DEMs and also a new Lidar method, seamless borders, how Row Crop Special and I do our roads now, along with "Blender For Map Makers" and some other advanced stuff I've picked up. However, I want to see what the next game is going to look like before sinking time into that project (post-Stitzer).

All this aside, these lessons are still very relevant and I think many of you will find them helpful!:

Hi folks!

A little update from me. I'll be giving a little tour of the map tonight on stream and I'll be discussing what's left to do on the map and a general timeline. I'll show off the four newest farms as well!

I have been taking it a little slow the last few weeks as I deal with some health issues. Nothing major, just need to take more breaks. I am almost finished with the 18th farm on the map, and 17th(?) dairy farm. This farm (see pics) is the whole reason I started this map in the first place. It is my personal favorite farm on the map, and it will likely receive the most love. I've already edited up the buildings, and a new dairy barn will be making an appearance here as well!

This last quadrant of the map is the size of a 1x, that's why its taking so long. But once I finish this dairy farm, and the small grain operation up the road, I'll be focusing entirely on ironing out functionality in the map (should only take me 2-3 weeks), and I'll be spending around 2-3 weeks working on interior design on the buildings and decorations around the farms and the map itself.

Again, I need to take more breaks lately so we'll see how fast I can go. But I am insanely close to the end. 19 farms, all on hillsides, 17 with animals, all different in their own way, all unique, it takes a ton of time. While I am incredibly proud of this map, the replayability, the performance, the depth, the functionality, the uniqueness of it all, my next map cannot be this complex for the sake of my own sanity. Klossner, MN will give me a much needed break from dairy farming, then I will return with Lebanon, New York, both of which are almost ready for farms to go in.

I have other projects waiting in the wings. Lincoln Creek will not take much time, nor will Courtland. All 3 of these maps will be converted at the start of FS25. Gonna do my best to get them released before the end of FS22.

Thank you for your patience! Although I'm exhausted, I'm excited about this last portion of the map which has breathed a little more life into it!

Only 2 more farms to go! Then its a sprint to the finish. Really liking the land surrounding this latest farm.

Photos from Simon Family Farms's post 28/05/2024

This is awesome. Simon Family Farms is hands down one of the best model farmers (farm modelers?), and I'm happy to see him take on this venture! If you guys don't know already, Simon Family Farms (originally Bedford County by Cwj108) and Autumn Oaks is based on Doug's 1/64th farm toy displays - one of the best ever made. I've drawn a lot of inspiration from his displays in my map making for Farm Sim - and still need to make a map based on his most current display. Congrats Doug!

Seed Extension is back, baby! What was originally a failed project (on my part) for Ashton Corners has made its return to Stitzer. Hoping to do Thundr's script justice this time.

The scripts will be built into the map so it won't screw with your other save games and maps. A LOT of testing will need to be done on this. I'm talking test plots for yields and everything. So what will Seed Extension do? It will perform a lot like it did in Ashton Corners:

1. Seeds are tied to specific crops, brands, and varieties. For instance, you will need Pioneer Seed for Pioneer Corn or Soybeans. Hefty Seed for Hefty Corn or Soybeans. etc. If you decide to add a specific variety of Pioneer Corn Seed to a planter, the planter will only plant that variety. You cannot switch to a different seed, you're stuck with that (you can unload it still, don't worry).

Here are the seed varieties I've added to begin with:

- Pioneer P9823Q (corn)
- Pioneer P19A27PR (soybeans)
- Pioneer P1449AMX (brown midrib for better silage corn)

2. There will be advantages to using certain seed varieties. For instance, Silage Corn will now be planted only with Pioneer BMR (Brown Midrib - Pioneer P1449AMX), the advantage being a shorter growing season and higher yield than normal corn.

3. The advantages will be much more apparent with Precision Farming: certain varieties will perform better in different soil types, resulting in better yields. However, the seed varieties that perform better in less favorable soil also will be much more expensive.

4. Seed prices will now be much higher at certain times of the year, and lower in others.

5. That's all I got for now. I will need guidance on seed varieties for certain soil types, that or I'm gonna have to do a bunch of research. We will start with Pioneer varieties, then add Hefty and Dekalb later!

Cheers!

Hey folks,

A lot going on with Stitzer at the moment! Here's what I got so far:

1. Solid Fertilizers added: Potash, Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), Ammonium Nitrate, Urea, Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (this is a name change from base game fertilizer, which is how it is listed in Precision Farming) - I am going to make it so you can mix calcium with ammonium nitrate (perhaps with special bonuses?)

2. Liquid Fertilizers added: RoundUp-Glysophate (Herbicide), Sure-K, Urea-Ammonium-Nitrate or UAN 32 or base game Liquid Fert (You will be able to dissolve granular Urea (45%), granular Ammonium Nitrate (35%), and water (10%) to get UAN 32, somebody check my numbers please).

3. Food additions: The feed system from Ashton Corners is back! Along with the return of Molasses, Cracked Corn, and Inoculant, I have implemented Wet Distillers, Cotton Seed, Bean Meal, Wheat Bran, CCM, Vaccines, and Milk (for calves). I want to build a system for producing each of these fill types but until then, they're just purchasable at Reddy Ag and add depth. Gluten and Wet Cake still need to be added.

4. While we're on the subject of animals, Sand can now be used as bedding, and I'm exploring adding sawdust and other filltypes.

5. Earlage is now in the map for making CCM. Ear corn is being reworked.

6. I have a lot of ideas on how to implement fungicide, insecticide, etc. but that will have to be somewhere in the distant future (please Giants).

7. Lastly, I really wish Phosphorous and Potassium were factors in Precision Farming. I'm not sure if anyone has looked into this yet, but I hope I'm laying the ground work for somebody to explore that option someday.

8. Almost forgot! Lime can now be spread from any manure spreader and the effects actually show lime instead of manure!

Well, it gave me a little more of a headache than I wanted, but I got Potash added to Stitzer! A little hard to see the reddish-pink flakes coming out the back, but it was worth that little detail. Potash will have a special role with Precision Farming. Until then, it just acts like solid fertilizer.

Photos from MRG Mapping's post 07/05/2024

So who's gonna be in charge of calves on your MP server? 76 calf pens on the large dairy alone😅 (still lots of interior detailing to do on these farms).

Photos from MRG Mapping's post 29/04/2024

I am by no means the best modeler. There are a lot of great modelers making some incredible objects and buildings. But I'm really proud of how this dry fertilizer building came out! A few adjustments and working on the interior a bit, but what you think?

Potash and other fertilizer types coming soon! Can't wait for you all to play this map on public release.

Reddy Ag finally coming together on Stitzer! Shoutout to Tri-State Crew for modeling some of the buildings for me and Row Crop Special for the sign and bin lights! Still some work to do on it, and a little rework on the bins, but by far it is the best sellpoint I've put together. I really want you to be able to see the lights from across the map, so that's what I plan on working on next!
