Boost for Bungoma Farmers as FAO Donates Farm Machinery

The United Nations through Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has donated two farm tractors and assortment of farm implements to Bungoma Farmers to boost food production.

Flagging off the donation in Matili, Kimilili sub county, Deputy Governor Janipher Mbatianyi underscored high cooperation between Bungoma and FAO saying the donation of tractors will improve the scale of agricultural production in Bungoma.

"I appeal to farmers to take care of the farm machinery and put them into good use to achieve the desired goals and turn around your livelihoods,” added Mbatianyi

FAO Director, Carlva Mucavi said their mandate is to defeat hunger and malnutrition in Bungoma through food production and sustainable agricultural practices.

CECM for Agriculture Monica Fedha appreciated the efforts and support from FAO in boasting agriculture especially rural counties like Bungoma.

Governor has also nominated Mrs Agnes Wachiye as the CECM for Gender, Sports, Youths and culture to replace Nancy Kibaba who was appointed as CAS by President William Ruto.

CONTRACTORS WITH SHODDY WORK WONT BE PAID - CECM CHENGECK

Contractors who do shoddy works will not be paid and face blacklisting, Roads CECM Bonventure Chengeck has said.

Speaking while in an inspection of ward based projects in Bumula, Kimaeti, and Matulo Wards, Chengeck affirmed that the government won't pay contractors who do shoddy works.

“Governor Lusaka is very clear on delivery of timely and quality works. Contractors are to be paid only based on strict adherance to quality and standards. I will inspect all the projects before any payment is authorised,” said CEC Chengeck.

He was impressed by the ongoing works, noting that most of the road constructions were on course to be completed, which would ease the movement of goods and people.

The roads visited today include Masielo-Siboti, Kitabisi-Wekheleka, Sihilila-Kitingia, Kimaeti-Syombe, and Myanga-Syombe Diploma-Sicherekeni among others.

The Roads CECM later visited Matulo Ward in the company of area MCA Stephen Simiyu, where they explored ways of cooperation in the construction of a bridge at Vilongo River that borders Misikhu and Matulo Wards.
