Did you know???

The iconic Boopie design (made by Anchor Hocking in the 1950s) differs from Candlewick (Made by Imperial Glass Co), but both are often confused for the other. While both feature beaded glass patterns, the main difference is in the spacing. The Boopie design has beads much closer together, and might even touch one another, whereas the Candlewick design is wide-set and spread farther apart. Candlewick also can appear more dainty, whereas Boopie appears thicker/heavier.

Did you know???

Authentic Indiana Glass "Hen on Nest" are not stamped with a logo or trademark. One way to identify an authentic vintage Hen on Nest is by the narrow, flat tail, pointing straight back from the head. While other glass manufactures split or divided the tail, the tail on Indiana Glass Hens are never split or divided. On the Hen's back, you will see a mold circle (aka Valve Mark), which is also a feature of all Indiana Hens. The beaded edge (like on this hen), indicates that the hen was made post 1950s. Prior to this, hens were made with a smooth rim without the candlewick-like beading. (ref: glassbottlemarks.com)

Look at this awesome surprise we had when we brought this vintage Turkey Covered Candy Dish (made by LE Smith) home today. When we bought it we had no idea it contained cadmium-an element sometimes found in vintage glass that causes it to glow under black light. Other elements found in vintage glass that will glow under a black light include uranium, manganese, lead and neodymium. Vintage glass is so fascinating!
