Dogs are amazing!!!! šŸ„°šŸ˜

Guide dogs are incredible! ā™„ļø

On Sept 11th, 2001, Michael and his guide dog Roselle were in the 78th floor of the World Trade Center's Tower One when it was struck by the hijacked jetliner 18 floors above them.

They descended the building together, walking down those 78 flights of stairs through chaos, smoke and debris. Once they got out, they headed toward a parking lot across from Tower Two, only to realize it was collapsing.

Roselle then helped guide Michael to shelter in a subway station.

Have you ever had plans for your brand and life halted your timeline?

Have you ever had to check yourself? Girl STOPPPPPP. There is NO way all of this will be accomplished this month. Lets be C-L-E-A-R. Building a website alone has been an insanely, excruciatingly L-O-N-G process, that started about 11 months ago. Just think of it as digging the foundation for your brand new home, and being responsible for the siding, drain pipes, the gutter, and all inspections and permits. You also have to deal with distractions such as thunderstorms, or floods of emails, phone calls, Zoom appointments, and the socials of social media. Small business ownership and website building you do EVERYTHING, quite literally. Yes I could pay someone to build it for me, but then that would mean not getting the satisfaction of completing it myself...WHEW! Lol. Soooo here we gooo month 11! Maybe I'll have it ready by 2022.

Tuesday Truthā€¦

We DO want you to get to know the REAL us, the AUTHENTICITY. But we are still getting to know ourselves. So we need you to have a little patience with us.

Asking US to remove the embellishments such as our makeup, lashes, and hairpieces...

is like asking us to strip naked.

Hair in particular is SO private to us. Some of our own family members havenā€™t seen us fully. So the idea of a stranger getting access to what is underneath upfront is simply not happening unless we completely TRUST you.

This one task which seems so easy to men, is actually not always so simple for us.

It requires us to reveal our:

Thinning edges
Grey hairs
Nappiness
Split ends
Balding spots

And another thingā€¦

Some of us have been COMPLETELY ignored when we show up as our natural selves. It is TRUE. Not even a whisper of a hello in public.

We feel invisible, and passed over for the prettier girls all the time.

Statistically MORE Black women remain unmarried than any other group. It is a FACT. Not opinion.

It is also a fact that employers do not value our appearance through discriminatory dress code and hair code policiesā€¦that directly target Black women.

Whether or not you personally feel Black women are amazing naturallyā€¦.

Employers tell us differently.

Men in public tell usā€¦or donā€™t at all differently everyday.

Sooo insteadā€¦

We feel we have to step UP.

So we work extra hard to be the bad ass babes because we feel we donā€™t have a choice if we want the same level of respect.

And maybe put on a bit extra at times too, admittedly so.

Maybe an extra spray of perfume, or a brighter coat of lip color.

But again,
The truth isā€¦

Underneathā€¦

Our bodies are changing. B***s are beginning to sag. Gray hairs are appearing everywhere.

But you may not ever know this unless we TRUST you enough to reveal it.

If a woman has revealed herself to you completely stripped, consider yourself lucky.

Because it is rare.

On this FINAL WEEK of Hispanic Heritage Monthā€¦.

I want to recognize Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Born October 13, 1989.

Latina, with African ancestral heritage.

A Bronx, NY native, who represents her city, but also inspires Afro, Black, and Latina women all over the worldā€¦

She is incredible.

In alot of ways Alexandria reminds me of my mother.
B-O-L-D.
COURAGEOUS.
Unafraid to speak her mind.
Unapologetic about who SHE is.

Iā€™ve always aspired to be more like HER. Thanks to women like AOC, her spirit transcends and carries on in this world.

Thank you for being unapologetically YOURSELF.

Thank you for the courage to stand UP to White male supremacy, patriarchy, and old and tired traditions that have held us back from REAL progress.

Thank YOU for showing UP in the community, even after all of your SUCCESS.

Thank you for representing the community of Black and brown people with dignity, grace, compassion, and A TOUGH, HARD AS NAILS, mindset. You literally get things DONE in office and are unapologetic about it.

You are less concerned with PUBLIC OPINIONā€¦.

And stay TRUE to doing what is RIGHT for our country.

We love you Alexandria.
