Good news for night owls in Thailand: Pubs, bars and nightclubs in the popular holiday country will soon be allowed to stay open for two hours longer. The cabinet in Bangkok approved a corresponding draft regulation from the Interior Ministry on Tuesday, as the Bangkok Post newspaper reported. Accordingly, nightclubs will be allowed to keep their doors open until 4 a.m. instead of 2 a.m. in the future. However, the regulation only applies to the tourist hotspots Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chon Buri with the party metropolis Pattaya as well as to the islands of Koh Samui and Phuket.

Koh Tao and its mountain of garbage awaiting disposal Local administration officials on the popular resort island of Koh Tao have heaved a big sigh of relief after a municipality in Poonpin district of Surat Thani province has agreed to accept 45,000 tonnes of garbage from the island for disposal.
