Wedding Tip No. 8: Floral design is an art.
Be open to the designer’s ideas and avoid being overly prescriptive in terms of specific flower varieties to use. For consultations, we find it’s best to provide a small collection of 5-6 reference photos to help you communicate your likes and dislikes.

I remember so well what it was like planning my wedding years ago. In fact, I planned my wedding long distance and had only a few opportunities to meet with my venue and vendors.
Can you say stressful?!
I’ll be honest, I approached the flower part of my wedding pretty naively. I spent so much time researching venues, photographers and of course, the dress! But flowers just seemed so easy - I’d just need a few bouquets and centerpieces and something for the ceremony backdrop, right?
To be honest, I grossly underestimated what I should have thought through to prepare for my wedding flowers. In fact, there was so little information out there that talked about planning wedding flowers. I literally didn’t have a clue what to budget for flowers or where to begin.
Many years and tons of hours flowering later, I created Flux Floral to be the floral design company I wish I’d had when I was planning my wedding.

When planning your floral budget, be aware that labor charges can vary dramatically as each venue has its own rules on when we can set up and when we need to pack down. All of this has an impact on costs for the day.
Labor charges can also change depending on the time of day we need to set-up / pack down as well as the day of the week. To no surprise, Saturdays and Sundays incur premium labor charges and early morning set-ups and late night pack-downs also incur premium labor charges.

Confession: Every time I say "Peach and Love," I feel compelled to then sing it to the tune of "Drunk in Love" by Bey.. Like ugly face, drawn out singing with the bad runs and all.
🎤😩
Mmhmm. Yep. True story.
The "unugly" part of this though is the fact that Peach + Love is one of the masterfully curated color palette options from our Wedding Package offering. How do our packages work, you ask?
Great question.
Four simple steps actually:
01 - Select the items you would like us to design.
02 - Choose your color palette.
03 - Provide your event day delivery details and make payment.
04 - We will create your beautiful blooms and deliver them to you!
Not even kidding. It's so easy you could get all of your wedding florals done and ordered before you finish singing the 2nd verse. 😂

When planning your wedding flowers, be sure to give some consideration to your venue: does it need the additional decor florals provide or is it a beautiful venue itself and you don’t need to go over the top? Per usual, answered this question flawlessly by playing up this stunning staircase for this beautiful ceremony feature.

*taps mic* 🎤 Is this thing on? 😂
Hey Friends! Feels like I'm due for a "hello and here's what I've been up to" post - sooo here I go!
I recently joined and feel like I found my workout tribe. 💪🏾 There's nothing like being surrounded by others who PAY to wake up at 5 a.m. to be *cough* abused.. I mean pushed to their MAX for an hour. 😬
I'm no fitness expert, and in fact, I'm slow. Like really slow.
But I'm a fiercely competitive person. In all things.
For real, guys.
I never give up. I keep on going. And keep showing up.
(That feels like it would preach. 🤔😂)
What's been keeping you busy these days?

Not a fan of white + green?
Not a worry.
No matter the situation, it’s always OK to incorporate color.
Yep, always.
You. Do. You.
And, for the record, this floral masterpiece, is inspired by our 'Peace + Love' wedding package color palette.
No clue how our packages work? No problem. It's a simple 4-step process, actually:
01 - Select the items you would like us to design.
02 - Choose your color palette.
03 - Provide your event day delivery details and make payment.
04 - We will create your beautiful blooms and deliver them to you!

Perfectly justifiable question, isn't it? Here are the cliffs notes:
Growing flowers is hard + requires perfect alignment of many factors like proper preparation, soil composition, weather, pollinators.. you know, nature! Flowers are living organisms that have to be cared for every single day, + that costs!
*cha-ching*
After harvesting, flowers are flown overnight (because many flowers are grown in South America, Europe + Asia) to wholesalers. And well, overnight international flights ain't cheap - even for flowers.
*cha-ching*
Wholesalers receive and immediately process the flowers, because again, they're living organisms. And wholesalers work HARD, often processing flower shipments at 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. multiple days a week.
*cha-ching*
Your friendly neighborhood floral designer (👋🏾) then places an order with the wholesaler + gets the flowers delivered to her studio for processing, for a fee of course. 😂
*cha-ching*
Once received, flowers have to be 'processed.’ Every thorn has to be removed, leaves removed, every stem trimmed and different flowers have different needs - some like to be scalded in hot water (ok fine, idk if they LIKE it per se 😂), some love direct sunlight while others are straight vampires! Knowing what to do takes expertise and know-how + depending on the event size, processing can take hours and many, many hands.
*cha-ching*
After Mama Florist has assessed her flower children and deemed them fit for designing, the artistic magic begins. Btw, some of them will likely decide to be flower teenagers and never open or inevitably a few will get damaged in the madness. These losses cost $$$ too.
*cha-ching*
Don't believe in the magic of floral design? Grab a grocery store bouquet, arrange it + let me know how it works out for you. 😉 Mmhmm, expertise costs, sister!
*cha-ching*
And this is just about the flowers! There's a whole other world of proper storage and delivery, not to mention the business operations and overhead that are the backbone of every floral design business + make it possible for your florist to work efficiently + provide an amazing client experience.
Whew! 😅

I’m a big believer in ‘go big or go home’.
Buuuuuut I also appreciate clean lines and a simple color scheme.
🤷🏾♀️
This ceremony by feature by pretty much embodies everything I'd want for my own ceremony/vow renewal one day.
When you're planning the floral story for your big day, find a floral team who can add to the experience and amplify the romance.
Then, handpick a few signature items and simply skip the rest. Don’t stress about having a long list of designs.
Focus on ONE feature, add a few touches here and there, and sit back and enjoy the phenomenal experience that is your wedding day.

Wedding Tip No. 1: We're here to help!
Don’t feel you have to have all the details figured out! We’re happy to help sort through options together.
I soo get it: You have a general idea of the vibe you want to create for your day - whimsical, romantic, fun. But you can't quite make that translate to flower types.
No idea if you want your bouquet to feature stunning quicksand roses or vibrant Juliet garden roses? What about scabiosa? Can't name the 1M+ species of foliages out there? No idea what foliages are?
Guess what? You don't have to.

Let's have a convo about what vibe you're trying to create for your day and what story you want to tell.
I can't wait to hear 1) how you got engaged and 2) how I can help.

Did I mention I like my centerpieces like I like my hair?
Yes, sis. 😂
I’m seriously SO BLESSED to call this my career and help couples bring their wedding dreams come true!
And I'd love so much to collaborate with you to capture your floral vision and provide you with floral design ideas that complement the aesthetic of your wedding.
After all, a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it deserves special attention.
Let's do this!

Listen, I get it. Planning a wedding can be stressful, and planning a wedding in the midst of a global pandemic can be really stressful. ⠀
⠀
But guess what though? ⠀
⠀
They don't have to be. ⠀
⠀
It's so easy to assume you need to spend hours on Pinterest combing through blogs and pins on pins on pins.⠀
⠀
But what if I told you I have an easy wedding flower solution, which will take all the stress out of ordering wedding flowers?⠀
Like 'order your wedding flowers online without having to talk to a single person,' easy?
⠀
Oh, yes, I got chew. Yes, 'chew.'

If nothing else, my prayer is that your wedding day will be one of the most amazing days of your life.
Micro or Monstrous, I pray you're surrounded by love, you drink as much champagne as you'd like... and you feel BEAUTIFUL.
Although the day may not run exactly as you may have dreamed — it could be raining, it might be too hot, perhaps it's in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic caused by a novel virus.
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s a perfect day because you get to join in union with the person you're supposed to spend forever with.
It's all about perspective.
And no matter what, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience., so count it all joy! (James 1:2)

These frothy, blush beauties remind me of that one "thyme" (ha!) a couple months ago when I tried to grow an herb garden - oh, and when I tried to compost too. (P.S. it was a massive, smelly fail - twice!)
Oh, COVID. So grateful for the gift of that time and the many lessons I learned, like how certain herbs just don't do well in the scorching Texas heat.
Aaaand also how my little family doesn't consume nearly enough fresh herbs to justify the effort exhumed. 😂
COVID successes? Flux Floral was born! Yep, a true quarantine baby.. and I have no plans to turn back!

Asking me what my favorite flower is is pretty close to asking which of my children is my favorite.
My answer? It depends. 😂
Just kidding - sort of.
When it comes to flowers, yes, it totally depends on the situation, the vibe, the color - and most importantly, the season.
Ranunculus is a staple for me.. for. sure. And this photo from beautifully captures the detail of these blush ranunculus. I love their movement (they kind of dance). "Ronnie," as I call her (yes, her - get into it!), is the nearly always the life of every flower party I'm throwing. She's versatile, comes in many colors and varieties.. and she's super hardy (seriously, the girl can party the night away!).
Get it, Ronnie, girl!!
