The first day of the Democratic National Convention, which commenced on Monday, August 19, featured a first-ever panel on Palestinian human rights. The panel was organized by the Uncommitted National Movement, which encourages people to vote uncommitted this election in protest of U.S. support of Israel’s war on Gaza.

Recent ISPU research captures some of the main issues important to Muslim voters–including those who are uncommitted, undecided, plan to vote third party, or do not plan to vote–in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia. Gaza, overwhelmingly, is one of the top issues of concern for not just for these Muslim swing voters, but all Muslim voters.

In addition to ending the war, other priorities for Muslim swing voters include:

✳️ Reducing aid to Israel: 88% said reducing aid to Israel would increase their support for a candidate

✳️ Staying out of foreign wars: 83% would more likely vote for a candidate who kept the U.S. out of foreign wars

Check out these findings and more: https://hubs.li/Q02LY_kW0

This research was conducted by the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) in partnership with Change Research, with generous support and partnership from Emgage.

ISPU research shows that Jewish and Muslim relationships have been strong in recent years. While levels of Islamophobia among the general public have remained steady, Jewish opinions of Muslims have steadily improved. In 2019, Jewish Americans were the most likely faith group surveyed to know a Muslim personally, a factor associated with lower levels of Islamophobia.

Research shows antisemitism and Islamophobia are branches on the same tree of bigotry, which harm all Americans and American democracy.

ISPU research shows Muslims face discrimination from social media platforms. In 2022, Nearly half (46%) of Muslims who have experienced any religious discrimination in the past year have experienced discrimination from social media platforms. This discrimination may manifest in several ways including having messages removed, accounts suspended or closed, or being completely kicked off a platform.

Muslim men are uniquely more likely than Muslim women (53% vs. 39%, respectively) to report experiencing discrimination on these platforms. This gender difference may be due to the topics each chooses to engage in. Further research is needed to better understand this difference.

Every thought, every action, every bite we take, can influence everything down to our genetic code, altering the activity of our DNA through a science called epigenetics. Epigenetics is the study of change in our gene function without physical mutations to the DNA structure—we can control our genes. Adults and children all have around 25,000 genes that control the production of proteins in the body. The human genome is made up of about 1% that codes for genes, while the rest of the 99% does not code for genes, also known as “junk DNA”. Science has proven that this is where the information resides which tells the genes how they are going to be expressed—determining when and where genes are turned on and off,40 depending on our lifestyles and experiences.

Some conditions have a genetic component, but many researchers have determined that less than 10% of those with the genes for an autoimmune disease will actually develop it. Genes may load the gun, but the environment pulls the trigger— our children can turn on and off our genes with the decisions they make each day and the experiences they have. Those control mechanisms, above our genes, are controlling factors that regulate how we look, act and feel in direct communication with our environment and lifestyle. How our family’s live, their medications, internal and external environment and lifestyle, digestive health including our microbiome (our gut’s bacteria), nutrition, toxins, stressors, trauma, exercise, sleep, optimism, and spiritual health or any other life experiences, can turn on and off these genes, all alter how their genes are expressed. Genes can actually shape the behavior of the individual—all determined through our lifestyle.

Reclaiming Women’s Power: Empathy! – Dr. Empath 07/07/2023

"Our resurrection is strongly tied to how much compassion we earn towards those who suffered our complacency for long, the largest of whom are women!"

Reclaiming Women’s Power: Empathy! – Dr. Empath Thanks to the “mutant” common cold virus that has challenged our resilience and exposed our flaws like nothing else. We have witnessed “the taboos” getting liberated into our public court; everyone now is talking about religion, politics, and s*x.
