If you are a 2023 grad from PHS who received a local scholarship at the PHS awards program on May 15, please come tonight (June 1) to the board meeting at the education complex tonight at 5:45 to be recognized. If you cannot make it, we understand, but if you are available, please attend. You will be able to leave after being recognized.

10th and 11th grade students can sign up at bigfuture.collegeboard.org to begin a profile and become eligible for this scholarship.

Parents of current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students (with the exception of PCHS students who have their own meeting that night) are invited to a 2023-2024 scheduling meeting in the high school cafeteria on Tuesday, January 17th @ 6:00 P.M. There will be a brief Title I meeting to start it off and snacks will be provided.

Seniors who would like help applying to South Plains College can sign up in the counselors’ office to have an SOC rep help them with their application this Friday, January 6.

This is a great opportunity to apply for a free college education, but your seniors need to apply quickly. I know it says students are invited to apply by a staff member at their high school, so we are inviting any seniors who meet the eligibility requirements to apply. If you need a recommendation, see your counselor. Here is the actual link to apply:

This is our last group that we’re recognized for having completed their FAFSA and having applied to a college, university or trade school. Don’t worry if your senior has not yet completed this. There is still time to participate in our spring GENTX signing day where we will have a great celebration for those seniors accepted to their next education goals!

RING CEREMONY: Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022 @ 5:30 PM in the newly remodeled PHS auditorium. Juniors and seniors who have ordered class rings this fall are invited to bring family and participate in the ring ceremony Wednesday.

These amazing seniors have met the GENTX college challenge: they have applied to college and filled out their state required financial aid!

The PHS counseling team has been/will be giving prizes to students who give thought-provoking and/or honest answers to questions from our SEL/guidance lessons among other things. We would love some help purchasing things to fill goody bags for prizes. If you can help, we would really appreciate it. Wichita Falls is not that far away, and they have some fantastic programs. They also have a financial aid/no loan guarantee if your income is within a certain range.

Did you know that ENMU charges in-state tuition to our students who go there? This is a hidden, affordable option close to home.

Senior parents need to attend if possible on September 29. Clarification for FAFSA: the LEARN reps will only be helping parents with their FAS ID for now. It is the starting point for FAFSA.

Junior Parents: please read this and come to the meeting tomorrow night (Tuesday, September 20) at the high school cafeteria.

Senior girls! You have this opportunity to apply for the PEO Star Scholarship. Please read the qualifications and details in the letter below:

Seniors who are scholar athletes are eligible to apply for the Heisman Scholarship. Deadline is October 18.

Tomorrow, September 1, Herff Jones (West Texas Graduation Services) will be at school during homeroom to give seniors information on ordering their caps and gowns.

They will also set up after lunch to take junior ring orders.

Current SOPHOMORES and JUNIORS: Here is a great leadership camp opportunity for you. If you are interested, come to the counselors' office and pick up an application. Applications are due on May 20th, you counselor can help you scan and email it in if you need them to.

Help us celebrate our seniors with post secondary plans on May 4th by wearing a college/military/trade shirt!

Seniors: if you attended La Mesa Elementary School, please apply for their PTO scholarship. The applications are available in the counselors’ office, but must be turned in to La Mesa by May 11.

SENIORS: Texan Tipoff is an event for any senior that is wanting to attend SPC the Fall 2022.

SPC will be on campus on Tuesday, April 19th to work on getting you registered for classes. SPC wants you to attend this event with your parents so you can be better prepared to start college in the fall.

The following senior scholarship applications are available in the counselors’ office!

SENIORS: Herff Jones will be on campus today from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. delivering cap and gowns. Please make sure to pick yours up. If you haven't paid it off in full, you will need to do so when you pick it up.

Current Juniors: You have an opportunity to participate in the American Legion Boys State Program and the American Legion Auxiliary Bluebonnet Girls State. Both of these opportunities give students a chance to learn more about government, leadership, and a chance to visit our state capital.
If you would like more information, please see Mrs. Stoerner in the counselor’s office by March 31st at 4:00 pm to sign up and get an application.
