just a couple of tired kids who want to go sailing again ⛵️

THIS IS FINALLY THE END!!!

So many people have tuned in to watch our boat yard shenanigans over the last few months and it’s been so cool to see our YouTube channel grow. All the support and helpful advice telling us to just keep pushing has honestly made a world of difference. Being in the yard is soooo not easy. It's dusty and dirty, smelling, HOT 🥵 and it can be pretty dangerous. Not to mention uncomfortable haha but finally, Dacia is looking s**c and span and ready to be back in the WATER 💙

We still have a few jobs before she can be sailing again which will be coming to the Tube very soon!! But for now, please enjoy this photo of Evan and I proudly sitting at our favourite place on the boat taking in the Guatemalan ambiance.

Also if you’re caught up with our videos and you’re also very observant, you’ll notice that this is a little sneak peak of what’s to come in this weeks Episode 🎥

Let us know in the comments if you spot it 👇🏼😉

Finally painting our hull 😍 this has been a massively anticipated job that we are so excited to cross off our list. We literally sailed 800 nm to do this job here in Rio Dulce Guatemala because we heard about how affordable it is here! And the rumours were true. To see how our bottom paint turned out make sure to go watch our newest video coming out SUNDAY!!

IT'S ALL BROKEN // We restore our ANTIQUE sailboat on a BUDGET // EP. 19 20/06/2023

We missed you all very much and have heard from so many of you sending love and asking if we're okay. It means so much to us that you all care how we're doing and most important, when the next video is coming out!! haha

Yayayayay!! Our rudder is going back on!! After spending a whole month and a half in the boat yard we are SO pumped to finally be puttting some stuff back together. If you’ve been watching our videos on YouTube, then you’ll know we went down the boat yard rabbit hole - HARD. We tore up wayyy more stuff then we initially planned but I guess that’s just the way of things when on the hard. Anyways, new episode is up on Patreon for those who want to watch it a few days early! Or if y’all just wanna support the struggle 😅 either way we appreciate it!!

We've had A LOT of growth on YouTube since we started uploading our refit videos! We are super thankful for all of the support. It definitely helps push me through the MASSIVE list of work that needs to get done on Dacia before we can put her back in the water.

If you haven't checked out our recent videos you can head on over to our page by clicking this link ⬇️.

We are super close to hitting 7000 subscribers. So if you have yet to subscribe we would love it if you considered joining the crew!

There will be a new video coming out this Sunday. So make sure to get caught up on all the chaos going on in the boat yard.

Thanks for watching ✌

Ahhhh the satisfaction of painting 🎨👩‍🎨

Another thing that makes Evan and I a really great team - he loves jobs that really make him think and have to piece things together in very specific ways, whereas I love simple tasks that I can do while listening and singing to a great classic rock playlist.

When I took this photo of Dacia I couldn’t help but think, this is a photo that we will look back on later in life and think about the first time we hauled out our very first sailboat. It’s quite a special feeling, the imprint pictures leave on us. They are like a small glimpse into a window of a different version of your life. When I look back at old photos of my life, I remember what life was like and who I was in that moment. I must say, I’m glad to be where I am now and not still in this boat yard lol ⛵️

WE ARE TAKING A BREAK 17/02/2023

Guys!! Guess what! 😁⛵

We joined forces with Beau and Brandy Sailing Saoirse for a little adventure onboard Dacia.

We thought they had been cooped up on their boat doing boat jobs for far too long!

So we forced them off their boat and up the river from Rio Dulce to join us as we explore this incredible hot spring waterfall!

Make sure to check out their channel.
They are the most amazing people.
We are super fortunate to be able to call them our friends ❤

Anyone else smell ‘green’ (yes like the colour) after a long passage? 🌴🌿🐢🐛🌳🥝🥒🦜🥬🐊

When we first spotted the mountains of Guatemala after 12 days on the Ocean, having only smelt the woody smell of our boat and the salty air for so long, the ‘green’ smell definitely stood out to me.

One of my most memorable moments as we entered this beautiful new country 🇬🇹

I wanted to come on here and clear up some confusion about our posts.

As many of you know, Evan and I recently left Guatemala and sailed back to the Florida Keys. However, since we are a few months behind real time in our YouTube videos (about 4 months actually), our pictures are back dated to this time as well. So this means that most of the posts we make on here are from our adventure from several months in the past!

What this also means is that we have a ton of exciting pictures to share with you guys about what we’ve been up to 🤩

10/01/2023

Happy birthday to my very special person 🥰 so grateful to have you in my life Evan.

Here’s to one more year around the earth 🫶🏼

Jackie

Photos from Sailing Dacia's post 05/01/2023

After 6 months in Guatemala, Evan and I have made it back to Florida after a beautiful/hectic/amazing/scary/FAST 8 day passage!! We made the trek down to Guatemala in June with the goal of doing some serious projects on the boat, some included fresh bottom paint & prop removal. But I definitely feel that we’ve gained much more than a couple boat upgrades. We’ve made memories that we’ll cherish forever, and friendships that will last just as long. I used to think the best part of this travel life was seeing all the beautiful places but now I know that’s it’s really about the people you meet along the journey. ❤️

Thanks to everyone we met in the Rio for making our first haul out/hurricane season extremely bearable ⛵️🫶🏼

Before sailboats, I was into cars. Buying cars, fixing cars, modifying cars, but mostly driving cars. That feeling of being behind the wheel and in control of something really drew me in. The car becoming an extension of myself.
But something was missing.
Sailing, for me, takes all of those same feelings. But fills in that missing piece.
When sailing you become extremely connected with nature.
Instead of fuel driving you forward, you harness the wind in your sails. Instead of the asphalt beneath your tires, you feel the motion of the waves against your hull. Sailing draws on all of what mother nature has to offer, and places you in the center of it, with your hands firmly grasped to the helm and the wind and spray gently kissing your face, you feel connected to the boat, and the boat feels connected to the ocean. The whole world opens up. And instead of just the car being an extension of myself. I now feel as though I am an extension of the ocean. In a way, strangely connected to something way bigger than myself.

I sail on ⛵
