According to the CDC, accidental drowning is the leading cause of death for children under the age of 4. I will never forget the day we almost lost our oldest child to drowning when he was 4.

With the warm weather, more people will be spending time in the water. PLEASE remember to watch your child like a hawk when they are playing in or around water. They should always wear a USCG approved life vest that is the right size for them when near the ocean, lakes or rivers, and when on a boat.

Raising children has always been challenging. We have many advantages over previous generations (think automatic washers and dryers for our laundry!) However, todays parents face many different situations to steer their children through. Finding a support group is critical to mothers of young children. Whether it's a local group, church, school or even online, be assured you are not alone. If you're feeling overwhelmed or isolated reach out. Not only for your children's sake but for yours as well. Happy, well adjusted children come from happy, well supported moms.
