EMH Honey Bees LLC
We are a local beekeeper. We sell honey, lip balm, candles, & wax. We also do honey bee removals upo
Well let’s see how the observation hive does with honey supers on. We added 2 this morning because they have been bearding the entrance on the garage lol.
We have some sad news to report. As of 5/27/23 EMH Honey Bees LLC will be closing our doors. At this point in time we just don’t have the time to devote to them that is required. We have donated 90% of our bee equipment to the Iowa Honey Producers Association. Every year they have a scholarship for young future beekeepers & if they are selected they get their essential beekeeping equipment from them. But there is a process that is involved they have certain criteria that they have to meet & if they meet them throughout the year at the end that year they are then free to them. We are also trying to get with Friends of Conservation in Henry County, LTD out of Mt Pleasant to donate some stuff to as well. We had a blessed 5 years at this & had wonderful support from all of you from letting us know about swarms all the way to buying our products. We would like to say thank you again & we appreciate you all. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 god bless you all & 🐝🐝🐝🐝 safe.
Happy Queen Bee Day to all of the Queen Bees out there.
Looked at the observation hive tonight & the queen was checking things out.
Well went out to the bee yard today. Made 4 splits.
We at EMH Honey Bees LLC wish each & everyone a safe & Happy Labor Day
That time of year again. Let’s do this.
Sorry for the delay but I came home Tuesday night from work & pulled 4 honey supers off to extract this weekend. Now hopefully I can pull more of Saturday out at the other bee yard.
Well I put a double nuc box with a super into a hive today. I brought 1 frame from the super home & scraped it off into a cookie sheet then put the comb in a colander. This is what I got & the comb is still draining. There is about 3 to 3.5-4 lbs of honey there. Plus it was so good.
I’m sure glad I went out this morning & mowed around the bees. The sad thing was it was still a little early to open them up & yea they were just letting me know how much they missed me lol.
Was out today checking on the hives. What a nice morning it was for a ride.
We at EMH Honey Bees LLC want to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. Have a happy & safe day. I want to say thank you to our past & present Military, Firefighters, EMS, Law Enforcement, Dispatchers, & Correction officers.
My new shirt I want & need lol 😂. 🐝🐝🐝🐝
Well I got the 4 splits moved out to the bee yard this morning. I have a friend coming tonight to get the fifth one so she can start her horizontal hive up again.
Well I got a phone call today around 11am. My uncle said one of your neighbors came over & said you have bees all over in the air. I got home around 4:15 this afternoon & started going through the hives & the last hive I went through which is the HOT hive was so packed that I made 5 splits off that 1 hive. They were so packed when I took the lid off they were all over the screened inter cover & couldn’t hardly see the frames. I didn’t see any bees in the trees or anything so they must have went back into their hive. Now i just hope they don’t swarm again.
To all of the mom queen bees out there. Happy Mother’s Day hope you all have a blessed day.
Sorry for not posting this earlier but thank you to my cousin Jennifer Siefken for setting up this class for home school kids. They had a field trip today to our house to learn about honey bees. It was so much fun.
Our observation hive died. So I found last year’s queen in it & I took a worker bee & stuck them on this foam for an educational prop. It does really sadden us when we loose a hive.
Sorry a little late posting this by about 3 hrs lol. Welp we got our 2 nucs in their own hives today. A buddy of ours Chad A Phillips showed up as I was finishing up with the first one & he was able to watch the whole process of the second one. He was able to see the queen as well.
Off to get a couple of nuc boxes & head home install them. Then out to the other bee yard & check on them.
Just wanted to share sorry it’s at the end of the day. Thank you all for your support.
Just got done bottling 210 - 2oz honey bears for a wedding. So if anyone wants to not get bubbles or whatever we can put ur name & date on a label & put them on these 2oz honey bears.
Went out tonight & checked on the observation hive tonight. I wish it would stop raining & warm up so I can put some mite treatment on our hives.
Well thanks to Scott Mattson his honey bees that were in his porch ceiling are no longer there. They are in our hive at home. He didn’t want to kill them because he was going to tear down his back porch & he wanted them to go somewhere before he did. Thanks again man.
A friend of ours made these for a baby shower today. Aren’t they so cute & don’t she do good work. Thanks again to Ali Nuñez.
Made a honey warmer the last couple of days. Finely got it done today.
I want to thank a friend of mine Chris Hullett for building the frames for some screen inter covers. Today I am putting the screens on them. Getting ready for 2022 bee season.
Sorry I forgot to post this yesterday before heading to work. The observation hive was loving the weather yesterday as was the rest of the hives as well.
The bees are loving the nice warm weather despite the wind.
A little bee humor I thought was funny… I took from another bee group I’m on.
Went up today to SD Republic Grand opening to drop some honey off. My order was in that a friend of theirs made. I had to get a honey bee one lol. So cute.
Well went out to the other bee yard today. Good news is there are still some hives alive out there. We wish they were all alive but we have some loss so far.
Well came home tonight & wanted to see how the 3 hives are doing at home. So I got the flir camera out & took some pictures. The first picture is of all 3 hives then the other 3 pictures are of them individual. The red indicates the heat or the hot spot where the bees are. So the 3 hives at the house are looking pretty good. I’m very happy now hopefully I can go out & get to the other bee yard & check them.
We bought a new mat for our porch over the weekend.
Well I checked on the observation hive tonight when I came home from work. Looks like they are doing good.
Want to thank SD Republic LLC. The wife & I went in there to look & to buy something today we got to making some small talk & 1 thing led to another & they asked if they could sell our honey in their store.
I want to say thank you to Stacy Crawford & Reif Oil. Stacy & I met Thursday morning at Fast Break in Mediapolis & that morning she told me that she was going to place an order of honey for 5 of their store locations. We have been working on this for a few months but Thursday we made it happen. So you can find our honey in Iowa City, Muscatine Stewart Rd, Mediapolis, Westland Fast Break & 34 Truck stop in West Burlington. Thanks again.
We would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, have fun & bee safe tonight. Can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us.
From our family to yours Merry Christmas. We hope each & everyone of your day bee Merry & bright & have a blessed day. We also want to thank those for supporting us on our journey of beekeeping.
Well checked on the hives at the house & the West bee yard. They all looking good. Had to put some more feed on a few but all in all looking good.
