在春节前夕，家家户户都忙着制作或购买糕饼等食品，而年糕则是一种象征吉利的春节必备佳品。年糕年糕，年年高升，象征收入、职位和小孩都一年比一年高！

《新年赠柑 - 大吉大利》🍊🍊

在潮州，人们把柑橘叫大桔，它的谐音又是“大吉”；因而，新春时节,大家拜年时会用橘子相互送赠以求吉利，希望在新的一年里大吉大利 !

The Chinese word for mandarin orange sounds like the word for “luck”; and hence, during Chinese New Year, when visiting family and friends, it is usual to take a gift of a bag of mandarin oranges which means bringing good luck and good fortune to them in the coming year !

《压岁钱》🧧

给红包是华人新年的一种习俗，在历史上称为给“压岁钱”，为什么过春节,要给孩子压岁钱呢?

古时候，有个叫“祟”的妖怪，大年三十晚上出来用手去摸熟睡着的孩子的头，孩子往往吓得哭起来，接着头疼发热，变成傻子；

有对夫妻怕“祟”来害孩子，就拿出八枚铜钱给孩子玩。孩子玩累了睡着了，他们就把八枚铜钱用红纸包着放在孩子的枕头下边。”祟”刚要伸手去摸孩子的头，枕头边就迸发道道闪光，吓得“祟”逃跑了;

夫妻俩把用红纸包八枚铜钱吓退“祟”的事告诉了大家，以后大家学着做，孩子就太平无事了；

渐渐地，就有了春节给红包的习俗。民间认为分压岁钱给孩子，当恶鬼妖魔或“年”去伤害孩子时，孩子可以用这些钱贿赂它们而化凶为吉，晚辈得到压岁钱就可以平平安安度过一岁。

现在的春节，人们给红包的传统还保留下来；它代表着一种长辈对晚辈的美好祝福，它是长辈送给孩子的护身符，保佑孩子在新的一年里健康吉利！

有一天发现燕屋里竟然一只燕子都没有 了，燕子都跑哪里去了⁉️😱

罪魁祸首竟是这只猫头鹰🦉！

原来猫头鹰在自然生态是很凶的，连之前会出现的小鸟，乌鸦，麻雀，甚至蝙蝠🦇全都吓跑了！

猫头鹰是夜行性（白天休息，晚间活跃）动物。所以他们在白天表现温顺，夜晚凶猛。长这么大，第一次亲眼看见猫头鹰，跟卡通里可爱的形象差太远了吧！😳

把猫头鹰带走后，燕子还需要一段时间才会回来， 也不知道会不会回来 😕 希望老天保佑🙏🏻🙏🏻

[Our story]

One day, we were so shocked when we found out that our swallow house was EMPTY, where did all the swallows go?⁉️😱

We then found the culprit – the owls 🦉!
Most owls are nocturnal and active at night; they are hunters and actually very fierce in nature. With the appearance of the owl at our swallow house, it scared away all the birds and even the bats! 🦇

It was the first time to see a real owl, it actually looks very different from all those drawings and cartoons which are usually cute 😳

After bringing the owl away, it takes some time for the swallow to come back, or maybe they will be gone forever 😕，let’s keep our fingers crossed that they will be back soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻

燕窝到底可以对抗病毒吗？这个就要从「唾液酸」说起，到底唾液酸对病毒有什么影响：
Does bird nest have a role in fighting against virus infection? Let’s us first talk about sialic acid (SA), what are the functions of SA in our body:

1. 🦠对抗病毒: 「唾液酸」可抑制流感病毒，轮状病毒、腺病毒、呼吸道合胞病毒和副流感病毒
