Hey USAO Students,
At midnight tonight, The Accent will be closing submissions, and we will begin the wonderful process of reviewing the artwork and creative writing of the talented students here at USAO. If you want to share your artwork with The Accent, now is your last chance for the 2020-2021 semester!
Copies of the Spring 2020 Accent are now available in the English Department in Davis Hall 🙌🙌🙌
It’s almost ready!!
Come meet us today for our first meeting!
If you are wanting to join the Accent, we have openings in the following positions:
• Layout Designers. Basically you will work under the creative director to do the layout for the magazine. This position has 3 openings.
• Social Media and PR, you would be in charge of social media accounts and will assist the Managing Editor and Editor in Chief on getting the word out about submissions being open and other announcements! You will also assist in designing posters! This position has 2-3 openings.
•Treasurer. Keeps track of spending and and any money we get from fundraisers etc.
• Copy editor. Once submissions have been voted on and accepted you will edit all written work. 1 position open.
•General Editors. You will simply vote on all submissions once submissions close. Positions are available to anyone who wants one.
If any of these positions interest you please email the Accent or PM this page! We will ask you a few questions just to see if you are good for the fit!

The arts and literature magazine is now funded by the USAO Foundation and relies on generous donations from you to keep running. Meet Wendell Hixson, one of our three layout editors. He is a second semester sophomore who is majoring in English and minoring in Psychology. He is a layout editor for The Accent, and an active member of SGA, PLC, Literature Club, and Psychology Club. He adores artwork and wishes to not only encourage others to not only create for themselves, but to share it with the world. If you see him around campus feel free to ask him any questions about the Accent!

Meet Lacey Dutton! Lacey is one of three of our amazing layout editors for the Accent. She is also currently a junior and fine arts major at Usao. She enjoys raising plants, painting nature-based fantasy, and collecting classical artist prints. She has been a part of the Accent for two years now!
Meet Megan Hay. Our amazing and hardworking copy editor! A Dibble, Oklahoma native, Megan is currently a junior here at USAO. Majoring in English Education and minoring in History, Creative Writing, and French, she has been the Accent's Copy Editor for two years. Megan is proud of her work and takes her duties of showcasing student talent extremely seriously. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, being the soccer mom of her friends, and hanging out with her several black cats.
