(HagĆ„tƱa, Guam) ā On Wednesday, August 25th, Knights of Columbus Guam State Council officers met with His Excellency Archbishop Michael J. Byrnes, S.T.D.

Worthy Public Relations Director, Sir Knight Wil Castro.
The meeting was the first of the Fraternal Year. Worthy State Deputy, Sir Knight Mike Martinez facilitated discussions on how the Knights of Columbus may best serve in the strengthening of our domestic church, Catholic families, and community through Christian acts.
āThe Knights of Columbus remain committed to serving our Catholic community. Knights are in every village, many of whom actively serve our parish and community in a variety of ways and who remain vigilant in protecting life (of the born and unborn), our church and families, as well as our democratic and Christian way of life,ā says Sir Knight Mike Martinez, Worthy State Deputy.
His Excellency Archbishop Michael J. Byrnes, S.T.D. thanked the Knights for their important role in our Catholic community and encouraged them to continue to model Christ, engage in active and regular prayer and worship, and assist in building up our Church through their fine works. It was agreed to by all present that by doing so we not only lift up our neighbors but all of humanity can benefit from our living a good Catholic life through Christ.
With 1.9 million members worldwide, the Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic lay organization. Each year Knights of Columbus Guam generously provides financial support and volunteer hours towards strengthening our community and building up our domestic Church.

Knights of Columbus offer Active Shooter Response Training
"Trained Knights can save lives in churches by reducing risk and responding appropriately."

(Mangilao, Guam) ā Tonight, the Knights of Columbus Santa Teresita Council No. 13373 (STC 13373) will be hosting training for Knights, church officials, youth leaders and parishioners on how to 1) reduce risk of an attack by an active shooter, and 2) how to respond in the event of an active shooter incident in a church setting.
What: Active Shooter Training - how to respond in a place of worship.
When: Aug. 10, Tuesday, 7:15pm
Where: Santa Teresita Church in Mangilao
Who: Knights of Columbus Santa Teresita Council No. 13373 is hosting.
There is no charge to attend. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The training will be conducted by two (2) law enforcement officials with specialized training with assistance from other subject matter experts from the community.
Sir Knight Joe Leon Guerrero is a Fourth Degree Knight with STC 13373. He is the Deputy Chief Marshall for the Marshallās Division, Judiciary of Guam. He is also a Master Sergeant in the Guam Air National Guard. Brother Joe Leon Guerrero attended the Federal Bureau of Investigationās National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and is trained in active shooter response situations.
Officer Angel Ray Santos is a detective in the Guam Police Department with 10 years experience. He has specialized training in Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Active Shooter, Basic and Advanced Homicide investigations, Interview and Interrogations, and Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI).
Colonel Leon Guerrero and Officer Santos are volunteering their time and effort. The training is made possible with the support of Rev. Fr. Joe English, OFM, Cap., and parish volunteers.

Two Year Trustee
Brother Glen was born in Guatemala and moved to California where he met his wife Annie Mesa Makepeace. Together they have Mathew.
Brother Glen brought his son into Knighthood and together they serve our God, Church and community.
Brother Glen served in the United States Navy as a medical corpsman. After moving to Guam with his family Glen became an entrepreneur. He is currently a small business owner and manager. He runs the family trucking company and at one time owned and operated an ice-plant and cold storage. He is also currently a realtor.
Glen has a deep passion for helping his fellow man, most especially the sick and injured. While in the military he volunteered to assist with relief efforts when Mount Pinatubo that killed 800 people and necessitated the evacuation of more than 250,000 people. It was the largest eruption of the 20th century it being ten times larger than the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
Brother Glen is an active volunteer with kusinan Kamalen Karidat a community driven program dedicated to feeding our homeless Brothers and Sisters in Christ seven days a week.
He is guided by this mantra and encourages his brethren to:

BROTHER FRANCISCO CRUZ MENDIOLA - Deputy Grand Knight
Brother Frank is an awesome and currently active member of our Council. He is more commonly referred to as Brother 'Ranger' was born and raised in Barrigada, Guam.
His beautiful late wife is Cecilia Benavente Mendiola whoe passed on Oct. 13, 2017. Together they had five (5) children - four (4) boys and one (1) girl.
Brother Frank served in the United States Army. He is a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart medal. The Purple Heart award is a solemn distinction presented to U.S. military service members who were wounded or passed away as a result of enemy action while serving.
During his service he was assigned to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment; 199th Infantry Brigade (light) with special assignment to the 75th Ranger Regiment, also known as Army Rangers. The Army Rangers are the the U.S. Army's elite premier light infantry unit and special operations force within the United States Army Special Operations Command. He also served in the 1st Calvary Regiment and 196 Infantry Brigade.
Brother Frank attended Tumon High School. His hobbies include auto mechanics, being an electrician and a jack of all trades. He now spends his time crafting flying proas made out from wood found only on Guam.
He encourages his brethren to:

Knights of Columbus Guam State Council in collaboration with the Subordinate Local Councilās have reached the mark to help a Pregnancy Resource Center acquisition of a Ultrasound Machine all for the effort of Saving Babies. In the Likeness of God. Vivat Jesus to all as we witness the work of Our Lord through us, We are Instruments and ask God to continue to use us. Amen
