Friday's for Future Toowoomba

Thanks to everyone who came along today!

We had already decided that next week would be our last week protesting for the time being- we wanted to protest every Friday at least until Zali Steggall’s Climate Change Bill was presented to Parliament on March 23rd. We have now decided, in keeping with the worldwide Fridays For Future movement, that this will be our last week due to concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

We may not have attracted huge numbers, but it has been a pleasure getting to meet and talk to like-minded people. We have also had the opportunity to speak to Dr McVeigh about our concerns.

John McVeigh came out for a chat and heard our concerns. In pushing for bipartisan climate action, we need to be willing to work with those who might not see a problem exactly like we do- what we can do is keep showing up, keep writing letters, keep asking for meetings to make it clear we do want climate action.

We will be outside John McVeigh’s office until 5.30 today calling for climate action.

Welcome, We are the Friday's for Future Toowoomba group. currently we are in the process gaining approval to hold weekly protests within toowoomba. We are an all inclusive group anyone is welcome to join.

We have two main aims for this group:
1) continue to raise awareness and inform of the climate emergency
2) be seen by members of political parties and council to continue to remind them that they cannot ignore the climate emergency.
