My first online 3D art exhibition: “In the limelight” 2022 - 15 artworks

About the exhibition:

The name of the exhibition is inspired by the popular phrase: “in the limelight”. In the 19th century, this was a type of stage lightening that was used in theatres or music halls.

Lime does not refer to the fruit, but comes from the famous chemical compound, calcium oxide. The lights are actually called “limes”. When an oxyhydrogen flame is directed at a cylinder of calcium oxide, an intense illumination is created. This is normally heated at a very high temperature before melting. As a result, the light produced is a mix of incandescence and Cando luminescence. Even though the process has been replaced by electric lighting, the expression lasted over the times and people still use it nowadays.

In 1837, limelight was used for the first time in London. It illuminated a stage at London’s Covent Garden. Also, limelight is the name of a one of my favourite movies, staring Charlie Chaplin.
