Today the NC State Board of Elections certified all but 5 (which are being protested) statewide races from the November 3 election, including Catawba County Board of Education.

I am now officially a member-elect and I look forward to taking the oath of office on December 7 and advocating for students, families and taxpayers of the Catawba County School system.

Thank you to the 21, 292 voters who selected me on your ballots and all those who worked so hard on my campaign!

It appears that I have been chosen as a new member of the Catawba County Board of Education. I want to thank all those who voted for me and supported me in so many ways during this unusual campaign.

I will continue my longstanding practice of doing what I feel is in the best interest of students, families and taxpayers with humility and integrity.

I especially want to thank my campaign manager Erin Taylor, my communications director Anna Taylor and my ego anchor Valerie Taylor (she keeps me from being too full of myself).

A few shots from our victory celebration!

Throughout my career in Catawba County Schools, I have seen strong extracurricular programs help students build relationships, develop leadership skills, and shape their own identities. I believe extracurriculars are an essential part of a well-rounded education for our students, and that the Catawba County Board of Education should ensure that all students have access to enriching programs.
