I always manage to forget that ritual prep makes my insides and outsides go all weird.

The classroom is not your opportunity to proselytize. God did not put you there as the last line of defense between my child and “hell” or whatever other white savior BS you’ve convinced yourself of. And most of all I need you to hear that asking for asking for *neutrality* is not infringing on your freedom of religion—it’s just saying that you cannot infringe upon mine. Schools should be neutral spaces for learning.

Hi Everyone! My dear friend and coven-mate Carly Sherman (on Instagram) is looking for research participants for their PhD dissertation. If you have some experience practicing solitary (who among us doesn't!) definitely consider reaching out to them by email at [email protected] and saying hi! It won't take up a lot of your time, and would be a pretty cool thing to do.

FOR THE LAST TIME!

This is something I’ve been struggling with lately because, on the one hand, Frankenstein isn’t the monster, but on the other, possibly more important hand, Frankenstein is A monster, and though he doesn’t give the creature a name - he compares him to an Adam but does not call him Adam - as the offspring of Frankenstein he could reasonably be referred to as a Frankenstein, as well! SO when my kindergartener sees one out in the wild and refers to it as a Frankenstein and something inside me viscerally objects, just exactly how detailed should I get in my explanation of who that character actually is?! 😅

New episode with author Mortellus We covered a lot of ground in our conversation including how Mortellus’s work in the funeral industry weaves into their practice and writing. Photo credit: Joe Amorello, Vandal Heart Studio

The Coven of Leaves would like to issue a statement.

Traditional Gardnerian Wica Public discourse in the United States is presently fixated upon what is, and is not, supported by “historical precedent.” That idea that if something was not written down by founding fathers, or elders, then it may not inform our choices. We find ourselves reasonably troubled by the idea of bein...
