Caregiver Wellness Collective

The Caregiver Wellness Collective serves as a national Caregiver wellness alliance bringing together key stakeholders from governments, business and civic sectors to increase attention to and awareness of Caregiver wellness needs, supports and resources.

There are more than 53 million Caregivers across the United States. We recognize that there will be many more Caregivers across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that minority populations are disproportionately impacted. Caregivers provide significant support and assistance to loved ones in need but not without great risk to their own health and wellbeing. The pandemic health crisis has further increased the risk for poor health and mental health outcomes for Caregivers. Caregivers have expressed increased mental health challenges including elevated suicidal ideation. This is not acceptable. Caregivers are in crisis and need our emergent support.

When we can support the health and wellbeing of family Caregivers, we can reduce the risk for poor heath and mental health outcomes and improve the quality of care Caregivers are able to provide to their loved one.

The Collective is also the home of a new community project known as Yoga4Caregivers. This program seeks to empower family Caregivers to reclaim their health and wellbeing by learning the embodied self-care practices of yoga, meditation and mindfulness that we know has striking benefits for this at risk population.
