How was the first week of 2023 for you?
I'm not big on resolutions and starting the year off full speed. I prefer to start at a slower pace, reflecting on what's been working and what needs some tweaking. What habits need to get brushed off and set back in place, and most importantly what needs to come off my plate so that I have space for what keeps my life nourished!
I have always started the year by doing a cleanse, what it looks like has changed over the years but for the last 15 years January has been about getting real simple and clear with how I feed my body, so I can also get real simple and clear with my mind and spirit.
How do you start your year every year? Have you done cleanses or fasts? What's worked? What hasn't? I'd love to know!

What is Light Language??
Light Language is used as a way of healing + evolving.
It comes in many forms: spoken, written, transmitted through binaural beats, danced, signed with the hands, and more. You can create positive messages and intentions at a higher quantum level. How cool??

When I read this quote it was a bit of a gut punch - especially as a nutritionist, in my over a decade of practice I had NEVER considered the role of light in the overall health of myself or my clients.
And then I thought about myself at the lowest point of my burn out - despite eating decently and exercising 2-3 x a week I was not seeing any improvement in my health. But here's what the rest of my day looked like at that time:
🔌 horrible insomnia - up until 2 or 3 am watching Netflix
🔌 long work days on my laptop
🔌 workouts in a gym with artificial lighting
🔌 no time outside
🔌 living on sugar + caffeine just to get through the day
I was plugged into artificial light all day everyday.
It has taken time to shift my relationship with light - and it has been worth it!

It's so easy to lose ourselves this time of year. Pieces of you get lost between the dark days and the obligatory cheer of party after party.
I find it hard to reconcile this season, when the cycles of our light here in the North call to us to rest and be still and contemplate. To plant new seeds and let them sit in the dark. To snuggle with our loved ones more, to sleep more, to be in darkness more.
Yet our culture dictates that we try to fill our time with acquaintances, and loud restaurants, with too much artificial light, with too many to do's and not enough to be's.
One of the ways I like to draw my power back to what feeds my soul is to create ceremony around the New Moon. To set intentional intentions that honour where I am at, and not where the world tells me I should be.

When you think about being healthy - do you mainly think about nutrition and exercise?
I did for a long time - and you know what even when I ate super clean, and exercised diligently, and even when my clients did the same, I didn't see my health really improve.
I have spent 2022 learning and putting into practice the cutting edge science around light - yes light! ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

The sunrise has this strange effect on me...I noticed as I walked down the trail this morning I was excited, like Christmas morning excited to turn the corner and witness the magick of today's sky, every day each sunrise is different and equally beautiful! And then....the excitement settles into the most beautiful calm that I carry with me for the day!
