It may have received genetic code from a virus that causes the common cold, according to a new study on the Omicron variant. Therefore, the Omicron variant may be more contagious than other variants, while its effect may be lower.
Researchers think that this mutation may have occurred by being infected with SARS-CoV-2, also known as the new coronavirus, and HCoV-229E coronavirus, which causes the common cold.

In a 26-year-old male patient who had undergone Pectus Excavatum NUSS surgery before, the bar used was removed when it was displaced. We provided minimal partial rib resection correction for rib deformation (bilateral). The process is followed through the pre-operative, surgical, and postoperative images. Our patient left our clinic with high satisfaction.

An average of 1% of adults abstains from excessive sweating. In general, excessive sweating begins in childhood or early adolescence and worsens in adolescence and adulthood. In most patients, the symptoms are mild and not very socially disturbing.
However, most patients can be adversely affected in daily life. Daily activities (taking notes at school, taking the written exam, shaking hands, eye contact, etc.) become annoying and negatively affect the person's social life. Palm sweating is the most common finding and the most socially disturbing one. Patients avoid shaking hands. This has a devastating effect on communication-interaction or social contact with the opposite s*x in the work environment.

A pneumothorax is a collapsed lung. A pneumothorax occurs when air leaks into the space between the lung and chest wall. Pneumothorax may result from a blind or penetrating chest injury, some medical procedures, or damage from underlying lung disease. It could appear without obvious reason. Symptoms often include sudden chest pain and shortness of breath. Smoking, genetic predisposition, concomitant lung diseases, mechanical ventilation and previous pneumothorax are the most important risk factors.
Treatment options include observation, needle aspiration, chest tube placement, nonsurgical repair, or surgery.

Esophageal Cancer (Feeding Tube Cancer) is the sixth most common cause of death worldwide caused by cancer diseases. According to the World Health Organization data, almost 1 million people in Turkey were diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2020. Esophageal cancer is cancer of the alimentary canal between the throat and stomach that originates in the esophagus. Complaints often include a stick in one's throat, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), pain, and weight loss.
In addition to physical examination, complaints, the diagnosis is made by methods such as endoscopy (esophagoscopy + biopsy), chest X-ray, tomography, MR imaging, PET - CT, and ultrasound.

ETS Sympathectomy is a surgical procedure performed by entering the chest cavity with a video camera and placing a titanium clip on the nerve that manages to sweat (sympathetic nerve) or by damaging the nerve.
Hand, armpits, face, feet sweating, and face redness can also be corrected with ETS Sympathectomy surgery. However, it is applied especially in hand and armpit sweating.
This procedure cannot be performed for foot sweating. But while other sweating is being treated, 60% of foot sweating goes away.

In December 2020, the University of California San Diego Health study team experienced a dramatic increase in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus infections. In mid-December 2020, mRNA vaccines began.
By March, 76% of the study team had been fully vaccinated. By July, this rate had increased to 87%. In early February 2021, the rate of people infected dropped significantly. Yet between March and June, less than 30 healthcare workers tested positive monthly. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the reason for the dramatic change in vaccine effectiveness from June to July was both the emergence of the delta variant and the end of the mask ban in California. Because people are likely to be at greater risk of exposure to the virus. For this reason, the importance of rapidly reinstating non-drug interventions such as masks and intensive testing strategies in the closed area is emphasized, even if vaccinated.

Respiratory diseases are diseases that are often overlooked but have important consequences. Hospitalizations due to respiratory system diseases are responsible for 13% of all hospitalizations, and deaths due to respiratory system diseases are responsible for 11% of all causes of death in Turkey.
The purpose of World Lung Day is to raise awareness about respiratory diseases and to ensure that respiratory disease prevention is included in global public health goals.
Remember, if you are not aware, you cannot create awareness!
Lung cancer is the most common cause of death in men and the second most common cause of death in women. The types of treatment administered to patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) depend on the stage of the disease and the overall assessment of the patient's medical condition.
Surgical intervention is indicated for early-stage localized disease. On the other hand, for those with locally advanced disease, a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy is preferred. Palliative systemic chemotherapy is appropriate for those with extensive metastatic disease, malignant pleural or pericardial effusion, and advanced disease that has relapsed after previous curative interventions. About 40% of NSCLC patients have advanced disease when they seek first medical attention, requiring effective therapeutics. It has led to the development of targeted therapy regimens to better understand the molecular pathogenetic mechanisms.
Therefore, a number of aberrant cell signals and cell survival pathways have been considered as potential therapeutic targets. Immunotherapy and antiangiogenic agents have also been used as targeted therapies. All treatment regimens with a monoclonal antibody small molecule targeting angiogenesis have shown activity in advanced patients. In addition, it was determined that different patient groups, such as the EML4-ALK fusion gene, could benefit from these treatment regimens.

If there is no underlying medical reason for excessive sweating, then it is Primary Hyperhidrosis; If there is an underlying medical cause, it is called Secondary Hyperhidrosis. Regarding treatments, if the patient has secondary hyperhidrosis, a treatment method is first created for the underlying disease. In primary hyperhidrosis, surgical or non-surgical interventions are performed. These methods are; Botox, Iontophoresis and Clips-on ETS are sympathectomy.

B.1.621', so Mu variant, which was detected in Colombia in January, was found to have spread to 41 states in the USA. The mu variant, which is very common in Hawaii and Alaska, may be more contagious, according to scientists. It is also thought to be resistant to vaccines and natural immunity.
According to Outbreak.info, a website that provides open-source data on COVID-19 variants, at least one case of the Mu variant has been identified in every state in the US except the District of Columbia and Nebraska.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, 167 cases of the Mu variant were identified. Most of the cases detected between June 19 and August 21 appeared in July.
Our vaccines are still our biggest protectors. It is very important to vaccinate unvaccinated individuals and to comply with the precautions for those who are vaccinated.

The number one cause of lung cancer is smoking, which is responsible for 85% of cases. Genetic transmission, pneumoconiosis, radon gas, air pollution are other factors that are held responsible. Some lung diseases such as tuberculosis and radiotherapy to the lungs increase the risk of lung cancer. The presence of high levels of arsenic in drinking water may also increase the risk of lung cancer.
Today, with advances in imaging techniques such as low-dose spiral computed tomography, studies for detecting lung cancer at an early stage continue. Lung cancer can be successfully treated in the early stages. The most common symptom of lung cancer is a persistent cough. In addition, chest pain, shortness of breath, fever, hoarseness, swelling in the face and neck, shoulder and arm pain, back pain, difficulty in swallowing and bloody sputum are also symptoms of lung cancer. If you are showing these symptoms, you should contact a healthcare provider immediately. Early diagnosis is always of great importance.
With surgical treatment in the early period, long-term survival rates reach as high as 85%. The cause of death from lung cancer is mostly distant metastases. This increases the importance of early diagnosis.
Remember, early diagnosis saves lives.
The mechanism of action of Botox is to block the nerve endings. In this way, it controls the sweat secretion of the small muscles next to the sweat glands. After classical ETS surgery, post-operative sweating can be disturbing in more than half of the patients in other parts of the body (back, belly, groin, etc.). In order to avoid unwanted side effects, both patients and doctors mostly prefer non-surgical treatment. For this purpose, botox application under the armpit (in the same session on both sides) provides serious benefits and the aforementioned reactive sweating is prevented. In a recent study, multiple dominant and subdominant SARS-CoV-2 HLA class I and HLA-DR peptides were observed potential T cell epitopes in individuals who recovered from COVID-19 and were not exposed to COVID-19.
SARS-CoV-2-specific peptides enabled detection of post-infection T-cell immunity even in convalescent seronegative individuals. Cross-reactive SARS-CoV-2 peptides elicited pre-existing T-cell responses in 81% of individuals not exposed to COVID-19. Confirming the similarity of the common cold with coronavirus, it provided a functional basis for heterologous immunity in SARS-CoV-2 infection. The diversity of SARS-CoV-2 T-cell responses was associated with mild COVID-19 symptoms. It provided evidence that immunity requires the recognition of multiple epitopes. It revealed that, together with the proposed SARS-CoV-2 T cell epitopes, it could help define heterologous and post-infection T cell immunity.

The research, conducted from May 1 to July 25, examined more than 43,000 cases of Covid-19 in people aged 16 and over in the state of Los Angeles. These cases are consists of 71.4% unvaccinated, 25.3% fully vaccinated and 3.3% partially vaccinated.
The study revealed that unvaccinated people were 5 times more likely to be infected with the coronavirus, and 29 times more likely to be hospitalized. Also the research, it has been proven once again that vaccines provide significant protection against the more contagious Delta variant.

The NUSS technique is a minimally invasive method used in the treatment of pectus excavatum. The most appropriate age range for the correction of the pectus excavatum is between 7-14 years old. In the procedure, the back of the sternum is supported by the bar and lifted forward. Since it is a short procedure, the hospital stay is usually 3-5 days. It is recommended to start sports activities 3 months after the operation.

As with any disease, a controlled process should be followed in order to minimize the use of antibiotics in infected people. The reason for this is not to reduce the person's antibiotic resistance. Because of the maintenance phase of COVID-19 disease progresses differently than other diseases, it is necessary to follow a principled way.
We treated our patient who had a complaint with pectus excavatum by applying the NUSS technique. After shaping the pectus bar according to the patient, we completed the placement process. We discharged the patient after the postoperative examinations were completed. After that, the patient's controls will be continued and the deformity will be followed up. When the deformity heals, we will achieve good results with the pectus bar removed.
The right lung of our 65-year-old male patient with right lung cancer was completely removed (Right pneumonectomy). Our patient was discharged without any problem and the patient was consulted to the Medical Oncology department. He was discharged from our clinic after a complete cure. He was called for monthly follow-ups.

Permanent Tunnelled Lung Catheter Application
If (or other organ cancers) is at an advanced stage, pleural malignant effusion, in other words cancerous lung fluid, may accumulate. It requires hospitalization to treat this fluid. In the operating room environment, the patient is applied local anesthesia and sedation (sedation) (without general anesthesia) and an IPC tunnel catheter is inseted. On whichever side the fluid has accumulated, the IPC is placed in the lung cavity by accordance with the tunnel catheter technique. It is treated with both painkillers and antibiotics for 1 week - 10 days postoperatively. Patients can usually return to their routine life within 1-2 weeks.
