I had so much fun with Chelsee and yesterday as we made the photo backdrop for our "Speed Networking for Women Entrepreneurs" this Thursday.

I'm so glad I asked for help because I had NO idea where to start and apparently I'm color blind because I thought we had tan in our brand colors but it's orange 🫤

When I was reading on Women involvement in the improvement of Labor laws each articles breeze over these former slaves that were now washer women. And when I said breeze over I mean MAX or 2 sentences.

I took it up on myself to look for this story and came across Donna Patricia Ward's article on History Collection. I was amazed at these women (and a few men) strength and determination to understood the power of numbers. They came together demanded what was fair— way before Labor Day.

Navigating Networking Events isn't necessarily an art. More so as a skill you practice at. Here are my top 5 tips for mastering a Mixer!

1️⃣ HAVE A PLAN: Before you decide to attend any type of networking event so yourself what is your goal. Is it to meet potential clients? Find a new lender? Find a mentor? Failing to do this is similar to grocery shopping on an empty stomach. You're not focused.

2️⃣ LISTEN more than you speak. Doing so you will quickly discover if the person in front of you aligns with the goals you decide on in tip one.

3️⃣ (My favorite) share something unique about yourself to be rememberable. My favorite way to introduce myself is by saying "My name is Mieya, like "my ear hurts". Works like a charm every time.

4️⃣ Listen to Destiny's Child and SAY THEIR NAME. People love hearing their name being said plus it helps you remember who's who when you follow up with them or vice versa.

5️⃣ As a person who can live in TikTok leggings I hate to admit that first impressions will make or break you. I'm not saying show up in heels and a beat face. But sometimes a wrap dress is more appropriate for a business casual dress code. If unsure of the dress code ask the host.

That's the real kick in the pants about being creative. You won't always *feel* creative on the days when you're supposed to show up and make stuff.

And if anyone says they never feel zapped of their creative juices, don't believe them. It happens to *EveRyBodY!*

Here are a few tricks that work for me when I need to get back into that creative zone:

⚡ I turn on music. I don't know why, but background noise helps me find my groove.
⚡ I move my office. Sometimes working in a coffee shop vs. at home does the trick.
⚡ I give myself permission to suck. Just letting that sh*tty first draft come out so it’s out of the way usually does wonders.

I'm talking about real love stories. Where ordinary people like you and me wake up in the morning and decide we're going to love the heck out of *ourselves.*

Where we start offering *ourselves* the same kindness, forgiveness, grace, patience, and strength that we extend so freely to everyone else.

The romance novels got it wrong. Finding a husband who has money and loves for who you really are is cool and everything....

But learning to love yourself is the *real* great love story of your life.

That's the love story we should be celebrating every year with cake and parties and a trip to the Bahamas!

Because the best way to add more love into the world is by loving yourself.

I get asked this question more than I thought I could be asked. But in all honestly, like most, I wasn't a little girl hoping to dive in the real estate world. Nope. Believe it or not, I wanted to be a vet, but then I heard I would have to put down furry babies and I couldn't bare being that person. So I roam the world (as in Texas) and discover my passion for helping dogs find their forever yard and now I assist from behind the scene as a Transaction Coordinator.
