I love being on stage. It's probably my favorite thing in the world. This Friday, Nov 10th will be the last April B. & the Cool show of the year! It's been a wild oneeeeee! Catch us on the Highland Brewing Co. Event Center Stage | 7-8:30 🍻 | Asheville, NC

Wow, what run. We ended last year with a sold out NYE show at the Asheville Music Hall with our friends and will end this one serving up a hefty dose of gritty funk, soul, and hip-hop at the Cold Mountain Release Party. In between all that, I brought visions of a Sharon Jones as well as the Cardi/Meg thee Stallion tribute show to life. I've done so much and am looking forward to doing more. I look forward to accomplishing goals, setting new ones, and just doing all the things that make my soul sing.

I truly love the life I've created. Even if no one else on this Earth is proud of me, I'm incredibly proud of myself. Not just for my undeniable drive and work ethic, but mostly for daring to be ME!

For simply ✨existing✨ as my own unique, pleasure seeking self. For blazing my own trail and using my gifts to make a positive impact on the world. For choosing a path of healing so that I can be my best and favorite version of me. That's what matters.

I'm cheering for myself from the damn sidelines.

I no longer live in Asheville. I finally made the move to Atlanta! This has been a goal of mine for years and I'm thrilled to be living in a real big city. I feel so alive and inspired. The big buildings and city lights absolutely stir my soul.

Throughout my day, I look to the sky and say "Thank You" because I'm so grateful.

I think of my great-grandmother often, who chose to live in the Bronx for the better half of her life. I feel that I understand it a little more now.

I have years of fond memories of driving into New York at night. My mom or granny would wake us up as we drove over the George Washington or the Verrazano Bridge if we were going to Brooklyn, and I would get all bright eyed as we crossed into the city. Those city lights get me every time. I imagine that they feel the same.

"Put your city face on" our elders would say before we got out of the car. I remember walking down 3rd Avenue with my late Uncle Johnny trying to look tough. Hahaaaa. He was so New York! Granny Edie was too. She loved city life. The lessons I got from my fam in NYC laid the framework for my new life in Atlanta. So I say thank you to them all for daring to blaze their own trails and giving me the game I need to survive and thrive in the city.

I played some fun dueling piano shows over the last couple of days and now I'm leaving the beach to head up to Asheville to take part in Friday night's Asheville All-Stars Downtown After 5 show. Opening band at 5 and the All-Stars set starts at 7. I have a handful shows in Asheville on my calendar for the remainder of 2023 and this is one of the last big ones. Come if you can! If you can't, wish me/us luck anyway!

A lazy afternoon wouldn’t be the same without some tunes! 🎶 We’re so excited to have April B back in the Biergarten this Saturday from 4-7PM. Catch some rays and April’s set at our Lazy and Hazy Kickoff Party!☀️

WELLLLLL! This was going to be a post to announce that I am moving to Atlanta next month. Instead, it's just going to be an update on what I'm doing, how I'm feeling, etc.

First, I'm happy and healthy! I'm also busy (have you seen my show schedule?!) & kinda stressed. But I'm very well and quite proud of my self & my resilience through it all.

So, I thought I found a great living situation. I had been keeping it quiet, but I also started packing, saying goodbyes/see-you-laters and mentally preparing for a major transition! I was so so so excited to start this new chapter in my life and to perfect my crafts in a city that I feel is more fitting for me, what I do, and what I want for my life.

Thennn things went sideways. A week or two ago I got a text that said the room I was going to be living in (and already paid a deposit for 🙃) was rented out to someone else who offered to pay more months in advance and they had already moved in.

(In fact, it was directly after I took this photo, with the intention of using it for said announcement post, that I got that message. I wanted to get some final pics in my plant room before the move so I did a lil solo photo shoot 😭 )

I love some hot tea as much as the next girlie but I'm tryna let this one go so I'm not going to air it out publicly. 🫠☕ Woosaaaaaah 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Anyway, thaaaaankfully, I got my money back.

Thankfully, I still have a place to live until that "something better" comes along.

Thankfully, I have a strong support system ❤️

I'm not in a hurry. I don't want to rush such an important decision, but I'm ready to move on from living in Asheville.

I need a change of pace. I need diversity. I need more room to grow. 🌻

My goal is to move before winter sets in and I believe that it's very attainable and am actively working towards it.

I am also working on a new musical endeavor. I've created an adult piano show that I'm excited to debut. 🎹 think singing + burlesque + piano!

I'm still working out the kinks (pun intended) but I've personally never seen or heard of anything like this!
