right, so yesterday was a tad hectic & the competition kind of got lost in the madness of week & cruise ship , so incase it gets hectic again today & the madness that is a regular saturday anyway, added with last day of & it’s the open day tomorrow toooo., we’ve decided to roll the competition into one big thurs/fri/sat thing, with all the prizes together., it’s going to be a combination of 3 questions & you’ll need to keep an eye on our stories for wee clues 😁

we have beautiful cozy knits from Sweden as well, lovely for those chilly eve’s & wintry walks, designed & made by .
I am delighted with this year’s pieces, i hope you are too ♥️

this afternoon’s job for me was rolling up these beaut sheets of wrapping paper into bundles of 7 different designs. this year’s paper is by it is absolutely beautiful & a really good quality paper for wrapping those special gifts, thank you Katie, i’m now you’re biggest fan 🥰
i’ve also just finished threading hundreds of price tags for new stock that’s on it’s way ~ come on weather, we need the ferry to be able to sail our lovely new bits over to us!

These absolute little beauts make for the perfect gift for someone who’s helped you grow in whatever way. a little wooden apple which opens up to reveal a tincy gold envelope with a piece of paper, blank for you to write some special words. just so very darling ♥️

it’s been quite a day of weather today., mainly COLD!
thank you to all who’ve been in for a cuppa, cake or something from the shop this week, we appreciate you very much ~ without our customers there would be no ‘the blue lobster’

not only is it my absolute favourite time of year for the lovely colours, the weather, fairisle jumpers, decorating, interior styling, log fires & the want to snuggle under a blanket with the new series of .british.bakeoff on tv,. its time for all the lovely rich seasonal drinks & bakes ~ full of caramel, apples, maple, nuts, cinnamon & all that yumminess,. the oh so hard to resist one’s! go on ~ you know you want to 🍂 🍁

i made a lovely pistachio cake yesterday but failed to get it out of the tin in one piece,, i had a feeling it was going to happen, so i decided to experiment & this is the result ~ pistachio baked cheesecake with butterscotch cream & pistachio crumb, along with a macaroon cortado ~ yum!

i got a lovely recipe book as a gift last week & i thought i’d try this one for you to hopefully enjoy! it’s a brown sugar sponge, with cocoa butter icing, mini Millionaire squares, shortbread crumb & my own butterscotch sauce drizzled all over it ~ delish!

oh my golly gosh, the woolies are in! OF COURSE they’re absolutely gorgeously warming, soft, cozy, hygge, fancy~pants, would we offer up anything else to our lovely darling customers!?!
different colours, small/medium or medium/large in the booties & 3 sizes in the mittens ~ gifting perfection 💛

we’ve got some totally yummy autumn drinks on our menu just now.,, i’m just sipping on a Rice Pudding & Jam Steamer (this one is best with oat milk) honestly, it’s perfect for today’s weather, soooooo warming, comforting & flipping delish ~ it’s like a hug in a mug!

incase you didn’t know, or haven’t been in the shop, this is our view! we are so lucky with the space we have because no matter what the weather, the day, the time, the anything is doing ~ this view is where you can rest your eyes, your soul & your daydreams.
more often than not you can see the seals in the harbour, the herons & sea birds. with the pontoons directly in front of the shop, you can see the goings on of along with visiting & local yachts & motorboats, there’s always something to see in 🤍

who would have believed we’d be +20degs in Stornoway in September!?!

so it’s my dad’s birthday today & we continued the shellfish theme, dad has worked in the fishing industry all his life, latterly & before retiring, exporting Live Shellfish.
i honestly cannot thank this cake lady enough for what she does & has done for us over the past few years, has been absolutely the star of the celebrations. not just the decor, the cake inside was absolutely DELICIOUS! yummy scrummy & just a shame cutting it! thank you again Rowanne, now am thinking of next year’s work of art!

this lovely lady came in with Norma from for a wee cuppa, a few years back.. tbh i think we’d only been open a matter of weeks at that time… anyway she was here on the island sussing out where’s best to recommend people to go to, a kinda guide book for seaside fans, surfers & the like. so she really liked ‘the blue lobster’ & said some really lovely words about the shop, how kind! so they’ve included us along with other local places in their issue of Great Britain & Ireland ~ what a treat! i EVENTUALLY got round to purchasing the book which is now in the shop waiting for you all to have a wee peep! better late than never!
it’s so good for the shop to be acknowledged like this & makes all the very hard work even more worthwhile, thank you so much guys & thank you .gossink i hope you’ll pop in again should you find yourself on the island & thanks to Norma for meeting her at our place 🤍

Hello! it’s a little (lot) damp out there today!
i thought this might cheer you up, some lovely bright & cheerie new stock we got this week, pop in & browse while you’re dodging the showers or are in for a cuppa & delish cake, it’ll@be lovely to see you 🤍
There’s so many things on in town today,. have their open day this morning so get your waterproofs on & get down there to support the local crew & the essential service they provide to our wee islands., there are stalls & their lovely wee shop is open selling lots of useful bits & pieces, i THINK you can maybe get a look around the lifeboat too but please don’t quote me on that, just go see instead!
have a parade from no.1 pier from 2pm today & then the tattoo fringe starts at 3pm on Lews castle green, which is going on all afternoon, evening & finishing late on tonight.
