ConPAHT Talithakum Ghana embarks on school campaign against Human trafficking.
The purpose was to sensitise the students about the worrying prevalence of human trafficking in our communities. We educated them about some of the tricks the perpetrators use to get their targets, and the dangers involved in being trafficked. We therefore advised them to be vigilant and also be their brother's keeper by reporting suspected incidences of human trafficking, child labour/marriage and other forms of abuse to the authority for protection.

Members of ConPAHT Talitha K*m Ghana carried out Human trafficking awareness campaign.
On Wednesday 5th June 2024, members of ConPAHT Talitha K*m Ghana carried out Human trafficking awareness exercise in the Northern Regional capital of Ghana. The team visited Garizegu JHS, a public basic school in the Sagnerigu Municipality in Tamale.
It was a wonderful moment as the students were excited and expected to be educated on the issues, they have heard about selling of human internal organs and some of their body parts. They were very quiet and attentive during the facilitation and shared about what they learned after the presentation. They were eager to join the club that would be started later in their school to learn more and continue with the awareness creation in their school and community.
There were seven Talitha K*m members present for this exercise from five religious congregations namely: Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers), Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM), Sisters of Christian Instruction (St. GILDAS), Missionaries Sisters of Our Lady of Africa (MSOLA), Sisters of Divine Love of Mary (SDLM) and two associate members: Lovey Save the child Workers Foundation (Lovey Foundation) and Centre for Initiative against Human Trafficking (CIAHT).
One hundred and twenty-nine (129) students participated in the awareness creation and were really excited to have learnt something new about the forms of human trafficking and its negative effects. Find below some pictures:

The National Coordinator of ConPAHT-Talitha K*m Ghana, Sr. Olivia Umoh DC together with representatives of other grantees of Conrad Hilton Foundation is convening at Lusaka in Zambia from May 29 -31, 2024. For a time of learning and sharing with each other.
As part of efforts to strengthen partnering organizations, the Convening is usually when partners meet and share their different engagements in touching people's lives. It is also a time when they learn from each other about their work and look for potential synergies and collaboration possibilities if they work in the same geographical or thematic area.
The Ghana Network of Talitha K*m has been ruthless in the fight against trafficking of persons in Ghana. Through community engagements creates awareness on this global menace and its damaging effect on humanity.
We also rescue, support and empower victims/ survivors of human trafficking so they can add their voce to support the fight against human trafficking.

Talitha K*m Ghana rescues seven victims of human trafficking.
ConPAHT Talithakum Ghana in collaboration with the Anti-trafficking unit of Ghana Police service has rescued seven girls aging between fourteen (14) and twenty three (23) years.
The seven girls were trafficked to Ghana by some unsuspecting agents who acted as business partners in Nigeria, and needed workers to fill vacancies in shopping mall, factories and boutiques with high paying salaries and allowances.
According to the girls, they were promised Eight thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS800.00) as basic salary every two weeks if they come to Ghana. But they were forcibly camped at a prostitution base in K*masi to work as s*x workers when they arrived. They also recounted several difficulties including hunger, maltreatment and exploitations they went through in the country.
The Ashanti regional command of the Anti-Trafficking unit of Ghana Police service, which has been a collaborative partner of ConPAHT-Talitha K*m Ghana and Safe-Child Advocacy in the fight against human trafficking, assisted us to rescue these girls from the ghettos and also arrest the perpetrators of these crimes. Court case is filed against the traffickers and we hope justice would be served to protect the victims.
The National Coordinator of Talitha K*m Ghana, Rev Sr. Olivia Umoh, a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul who is also the Director for Safe-Child Advocacy, narrates how precarious the human trafficking situation is in Ghana and Africa at large. She also called on governments, civil society organizations and individuals to act vehemently towards eradicating the canker.
Watch her narration in a video below, and pictures of the rescued victims.

On this day, twenty (20) Daughters of the Most Holy Trinity, FST Sisters and three (3) Postulances embarked on Rural Ministry in aim of making moves in the fight against Human Trafficking in our localities. The campaign took place at Ankase and Dobiwe, outstations in St Agnes Parish (Offinso) in Ashanti Region- K*masi.
We started with the Holy Eucharist (Mass) which was led by the Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis Abeberese and after the Mass Sr. Esther Konadu, gave a talk on Human Trafficking. What human trafficking is about, the causes and the dangers of the canker in our society now.
We also highlighted on how they can secure themselves financially to be stable and reliable enough to say NO to all forms of exploitations especially trafficking. Opportunity was given to them to ask questions to clear doubts, and the misconception that success is all about going to abroad, and we gave them the impression that they can make it in their own localities as well.
Flyers, placards and a pullup stand were displayed by the sisters. And also, we shared to the faithful posters and posted some in advantageous places in the villages to create awareness for others who were not there.
As a support to ConPAHT Talitha-K*m Ghana, new and slightly used dresses π, shoes π, bags πΌ, and stationeries were shared for them.
The one-day program ended successfully, and we are grateful to God and everyone who contributed to the successes recorded in the awareness creation.
