Trumpet Mushroom "Scallop and Asparagus" dish! It was so tasty and simple.

Cut coins from the stipe/stem of the trumpet, score checker pattern into the coins. Saute in butter high heat for 5 minutes on each side of the coin. Add onions, garlic, asparagus, salt and pepper. Cook until preferred doneness.

We had this as a side dish with Steak Frites and couldn't have been more satisfied!

New friends, Olde Moon Farm, are carrying our mushrooms today at the silverton Farmers Market! We love what they're doing and how they're doing it, and teaming up with growers like them and Sun Love Farm have really been the only way we're getting back to farming ourselves.

So HUGE thank you to them! Go support their businesses. Buy some incredible vegetables, and while you're there, pick up some of our fancy mushrooms too!!

The Wild Foraging Blueberry is back in action! Part of our healing process has been trying to turn a part of our business model back into a hobby. We love wild foraging, but in the past it has felt like a “must do” rather than a “want to”. I know it sounds crazy since foraging is incredibly fun, but even we can turn fun into work. So, this season, when we take a trip into the woods to find our fungal delicacies, it’s with the intention of joy and healing that we go. We're not trying to get paid for our skills, which puts a ton of pressure and stress on ourselves, doing something that should be mindful and rejuvinating.

Some of you may know by now that we have been selling our mushrooms via at the and while we recuperate and heal from a very difficult year. Huge thank you to Melissa and her incredible team for helping us out right now. Thank you to the market managers and patrons who support us by allowing us to be at market while not actually being at market.

And for those of you wondering what we’re getting up to while we get back on our feet—

is NEXT WEEKEND!!! We have been invited back to teach how to build your own foraging patch in your home/garden. Teaching has felt like a healthy re-entry into the world.

If you’re looking for a fun, musical, educational, folk music, and foraging focused, family-friendly festival, then look no further! Tickets are selling fast, so get yours! We’ll be there all weekend, enjoying the tunes and talking ‘bout shrooms.

Thank you all for the continued good vibes, and while sometimes things are really really really hard right now, today is a great day, and I felt like sharing! Mush Love.

Woo! Now that's a big

Our ginger will be at the again today 9am to 2pm(or until we sell out.) We started growing ginger last year and we love it! We'll have it up for grabs the next couple Saturdays in

If you've never worked with fresh ginger, let alone ginger grown in there are endless recipes. The flavor of fresh ginger is strong, spicy, and aromatic. Fresh ginger is much easier to chop, smash, or cut too.

We took veggies to the this week! It's not as cute to see withering veggies on a table as goats, llamas, or any of the other animals on display, but it is something we're proud to do. It's not about competing, it's about pride, and even if we don't get a single blue ribbon- we can say we showed our best!

We'll be going to fair Saturday after the to take in the local flavor!

We took two nights off the farm(less than 48 hours) to refuel and check in with nature. Seeing what the fungi are up to, traveling in a new to us wilderness, and taking time to hang out and enjoy eachothers company. We've been together 10 years! Worked together 7+ and studied forests, fungi, and food for the entire time. Being saturated by another person, sharing thoughts and work all the time can be a lot, but somehow we're always on the same path. Here's a few photos from our time out!

Photos from Brown Bottle Farm's post 08/07/2021

A few of the veggie photos that were actually taken instead of passed by. Never take for granted what's coming from the efforts of your labor. Even if there are imperfections, or I should say, ESPECIALLY if there are imperfections. That's real. Stoked to be learning so much everyday.

Pinky cherry tomatoes are always the first to ripen. We ate our first fruits June 1st, same day for the last three years. We don't heat our greenhouse, but we do start our plants in January indoors. The challenges of keeping a tomato alive in the middle of winter, especially during a 7 day power outage, is a real job. Last night we ate several with our salad because we deserve to feed ourselves! Soon they'll be showing up to and we'll be sharing them with our community! So excited!

PROGRESS! All of these photographs reveal the work in progress of our small farm. This week we transplanted tomatoes into our new Caterpillar Tunnel, picked sugar snap peas, harvested kale bunches from our new rows, and tried to stay grounded during our biggest wholesale week to date. It isn't easy, but it's really rewarding!

Putting that in! I think it's mandatory to grow now that we've tried it.

Garden Giant, Stropharia rugosoannulata...poppin' in our no till, garlic patch! 👊 third harvest this spring, and year two with the beds in place. We harvested 10lb+ this week. You can pick these babes up tomorrow first summer market day 9am to 2pm! (Hurry though, they'll go fast 🤞)

Cleaning ice sheets of the greenhouse.

A large majority of spring crops start in these high tunnels, and if we don't keep snow and ice off they could get damaged. Even worse, the plastic could tare or cave in- ruining our spring veggies and causing expensive repairs.

It's a chore we'll do in the middle of the night if necessary.

More importantly- It's fun! If we can enjoy the work, we must be in the right profession. Today, this winter landscape has been very entertaining. We get an upper body workout, eat cilantro popsicles, shoo birds away from our starts, and crunch around in the field. Enjoy all the seasons!

07/02/2021

Time flows onward! Seeds are started, tended, and tucked into beds that will provide them with everything they'll need to grow as the days get longer.
***Sugar snap peas are getting an early start on the back walls of our greenhouses. We've tried this method last year by direct seeding, and this year we've started seeds in the nursery. They look so happy! As they get bigger we use trellis string to support and give a direction to climb.
We're pleased to be popping seeds. Each season we see a little bit further ahead, and with a richer perspective. We make more calculated moves. We take risks when it makes sense, and try new things ALL THE TIME...cause if you're not using your tendrils to climb to your greatest heights, you won't produce those snap peas!

Inspections always open up conversations that you've tucked away for most of the year. It's an opportunity to reinvigorate and explore new/old ideas and principles. We find it stokes the flames for the season to come. Big thanks to Leah, of Indigo Gardens PDX for stomping the farm with us, and giving us your perspective!

Pictured here is a little glimpse into CNG inspections during the midst of a pandemic. We're proud of our members for masking up and practicing safe social distancing! Thanks for sharing, Indigo Gardens PDX (Portland, OR) and Brown Bottle Farm (Mulino, OR)!

We're into it deep right now! Finalizing some seed selections for this growing year! We had our holders rate some of their favorite veggies to help us prioritize. What do you want to see at the ? Have you thought about joining our farm share program? Check out the link in our bio if you're curious!

Now's an excellent time to join... help us afford our healthy seed habit! 😉
#2021

Here's a few high light photos from 2020! Even through a very difficult year there are always important moments to reflect on.
We grew more produce than ever before, worked more hours hands down than ever before, enjoyed and came to realize how much we needed the help of folks inside our isopod including-
We struggled through pandemic, politics, fires, and the fears of the unknown, but we're stronger for it. While we take things slower the next few weeks I believe the gifts of 2020 will become even more clear, and the changes that need to come will feel achievable. That's our wish for you too!
Being a farmer is having hope for what's to come. At the end of a year you start to focus on the potentials ahead. Thank you to all the friends and customers who help make it possible for us to do what we love! We're looking forward to 2021 and whatever comes with it!

Yuletide is creative time after a much needed hiatus. We're still coming down from the busiest farm season we've ever had, but we're taking moments of quiet to create art, and special food! There's so much to say, but this platform is for inspiration. We're so happy to be going by back to the this weekend, hope to see you there!

07/08/2020

Hi! Just wanted to let you know we won't be at this weekend! We're taking a much needed break to catch up our fields and regain our strength for fall. We'll be back August 15th! Can't wait to see you then!

27/07/2020

Due to the extreme heat advisory we will NOT have veggies at the farm gate today. They would melt...if you have a need let us know. We'll have it out next week.

07/07/2020

Here's a couple shots from last week! Feels good to be in the full swing of veggies! So grateful for the support from customers and other farmers in Oregon City. We're so incredibly lucky to have a farmer's market, and because of that good fortune I have to remind myself not to take it for granted. In order for our market to thrive it needs critical support from all of us. A fragile ecosystem to be treasured.
We took this picture without masks for just a moment to encapsulate the true joy we have bringing food to our friends at the market! Maybe we'll get to see you this weekend, and share some joy!? @ Oregon City Year Round Farmers Market
