So excited to share… our episode of Big Timber aired on Amazon Prime last night (season 2, episode 5). It was surreal watching it from the treehouse bed. We binge-watched season one in anticipation for this episode, and the show did not disappoint. Big Timber follows the daily operations of a family-owned and operated sawmill here in Sooke, BC. It’s full of humour, some unbelievably cool MacGyver maneuvers, and an excellent cast of characters. I wasn’t expecting a show about logging to pull on my heartstrings so much (third tri pregnant so take this with a grain of salt), but dang, how this family works together is inspiring as hell.

Wenstob Timber supplied a ton of material for the treehouse. We have them to thank for the gorgeous foraged wood that has left our place with that distinct cedar smell we love so much.

The winter vacation game has levelled up around here. Yesterday, some kind of magic was in the air, and Tyler and I had the opportunity to spend a couple hours testing out the new outdoor tub. The combination of hot water, cool air, firelight and twinkle lights in the trees was heavenly. We cranked some groovy tunes and seriously indulged. Counting down the days until we get another evening down here.

A little bathroom progress~

We went and visited a friend with a mill and picked up this slab for the countertop last weekend. 🪚 Ty made this backlit mirror and we brought home the front entrance mirror/coat hook from Sooke glass today.

Shower door and kitchen cabinets are making their way home tonight. 💦

These cedar stairs are westcoast goals 😍

The contrast between the cool bathroom tile and the warm cedar ceiling are so dreamy! ✨This bathroom has turned out absolutely unreal. Every now and then Tyler is too critical of something and we have to gently remind ourselves, this is a treehouse! A treehouse!

Currently we are chipping rock out of a trench in preparation for our friend Nick the plumber who is ready to go when we are! Hot water on demand here we come!

Some recent work in cedar. We love how this stain protects the shakes and also enhances the natural colours and patterns of the wood. 🌲

Trees in homes. Homes in trees. We do it all! We have been lucky enough to join these two lovely homeowners for a pint on that rooftop patio! Cheers!
