Eyong Enoh (Standard of Liège) : A Lion Tamed by Christ
A Lion Tamed by Christ

In an environment where excesses are legion, the "wise" Eyong Enoh, 31 years old Cameroonian international, is an exception. Plusquesportifs.org invites you to discover in video the unusual story of the one that the Belgian press nicknamed the "Pastor of Scléssin", an atypical footballer who assumes his Christian faith and the values that come with it. Available from today on the website plusquesportifs.org, these sequences retrace a career full of twists and turns and full of pitfalls during which Eyong has always maintained his trust in God and his personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

A career marked by titles... and trials!

After a short experience in Cyprus, Eyong Enoh discovered the cream of European soccer by signing with Ajax Amsterdam in 2008. He competed in the Champions League in 2011 with the Dutch club before landing in 2014 at Standard Liege, where he still plays today. An experienced footballer, he has quickly established himself as a leader in the dressing room at all the clubs he has played for. Alternately called "the wise one" or "the pastor" by his sports entourage, he has always been considered a serious teammate.

Selected with the Cameroon team since 2009, he played in two World Cups in 2010 and 2014 alongside great players like Samuel Eto'o, making him one of the pillars of the national team. However, his career has not been a long quiet river! From those tortuous beginnings in the Cypriot league to his totally missed 2014 World Cup, through a serious injury in 2012, Eyong Enoh has always faced trials by relying on an active Christian faith. This strength, which Eyong Enoh has always assumed, he experienced at a very young age, discovering the Gospel at university, at the dawn of his 16th birthday, when he had not been raised in a religious family. Before his career as a professional footballer began, he took a firm stand to be irreproachable in his conduct and to maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Today, after a storied career and a career still in progress, Eyong looks back on what has preserved him and allowed him to move forward as a footballer, man, husband and father of 4. Discover his story on the website plusquesportifs.org as well as a radio interview with Eyong Enoh http://plusquesportifs.org/euro/eyong ....
