Alberta Beach would like to recognize that June 21 marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day recognizing and celebrating the cultures and outstanding contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Metis Indigenous Peoples of Canada. We are pleased to acknowledge, honour, and celebrate the First Peoples and their relatives. With today marking the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, it is fitting to celebrate these two occasions together. The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, where the Sun remains in our celestial sphere for the most amount of time all year and holds cultural and spiritual significance to Indigenous Peoples. However, we cannot gather to celebrate Mother Earth and the gifts she gives, as well as the language, cultures, and ceremonies of Indigenous People around Canada without taking pause and acknowledging the hundreds of graves, long known but only recently found, at Canada’s residential school sites. We must reflect on both, the unfortunate history, as well as, the future and all its potential with our Indigenous brothers and sisters, if we are to commit to truth and reconciliation.

It's a pleasure to welcome Sun & Sand Beach Boutique to Alberta Beach! Located in the old church on Main Street, this local shop sells clothing, swimwear, swim toys, accessories, etc. I highly recommend stopping by.

Also, drop off a painted rock for their painted rock collection and be entered to win a prize! Draw will be on Jul 1.

We thank you for your support in this initiative.

Internet Speed Test Extension:
Residents and Businesses of Alberta Beach, Val Quentin, and Sunset Point. We need your support! We encourage everyone to do a speed test, if you haven’t already done so, please complete the Internet Speed Tests and send us the results. We are required to provide a speed test from one in five households throughout our communities. We need these Speed Tests to complete our application for Alberta Broadband Funding.

Our sewer system is a significant investment on behalf of the residents of Alberta Beach, Val Quentin, and Sunset Point. When items that don't belong are put down the drain there are environmental concerns, but there's also a potentially HUGE bill for the homeowner and we all get to pay the costs of repairs through our taxes.

Take a read and know what you can and cannot put down the drain to help protect the environment, our sewer system, and our pocket books!

Thank you to everyone who came out to last night's RCMP Townhall and for sharing your thoughts and concerns. All the Councillors from Alberta Beach were in attendance and we will be discussing the information and concerns that we heard.

Some key takeaways about what we can all do now to help prevent crime include:
Report ALL crime
Utilize lights, alarms, and cameras
If you have a camera, register it at https://parklandcapture.ca/
Join LSA North East Rural Crime Watch (AGM Feb 15 at 7pm at the Onoway Heritage Center)
Look out for your neighbours
Lock your doors and gates, even when you're home
Take pictures and mark/engrave valuable property
