Congratulations to Cynthia Simon Spadoni for District Court Judge on a campaign well run. As David has said, no matter the outcome of this race, Lafayette Parish will be in good hands.

Last but not least this week, I want to thank my beautiful bride. Missy has been by my side throughout this campaign through late night events and early morning campaigning. She loves to document memories for our family, so she’s been my personal photographer these last few months at countless campaign events and meetings. If Missy wasn’t in the picture, she probably took it.
Missy works full-time, and she’s a wonderful mother to our three children. Those who know her, know how easy she is to love. I’m just grateful she’s loved me back for 28 years- even through a campaign!

It sounds cliché to say “I couldn’t have done this without you.” But quite literally, I could not have canvassed the thousands of households in our parish without this amazing group of friends and family we have called the WAY Walkers. We started at the peak of the summertime heat (remember all those 100+ degree days?), and these people showed up weekend after weekend to support me. And when we started walking nightly, they asked, “where can I help?”
I’m so blessed to have these friends in my corner.

Add in UL tailgating, ✨WAY✨Waving, and the youngest Way casting her first ever vote for her Dad, and you've got a fantastic weekend on the campaign trail. David Way is the only candidate for District Judge who is a lifelong conservative Republican.

In 1988, at 15 years old, David's first job was at the Republican National Convention held in New Orleans. Although the hiring manager was looking only for college students to work over the summer, when he learned that David was an Eagle Scout, he said, “I’ll take a chance on an Eagle Scout.” David worked all summer as well as during the convention itself. The highlight of the 1988 RNC for David was watching President Ronald Reagan address the convention.

David was then invited back to work at the RNC held in Houston in 1992. He worked as Postmaster General and then Assistant Director of Ticketing and Badges. At 19 years old, David was mapping out where the POTUS and other politicians would sit and delivering those tickets to them. A highlight of that summer was speaking with White House staffers, and David vividly remembers wrapping up his work for the convention and driving home late that night because his classes at LSU started early the next morning.

David Way has been an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Lafayette for more than 20 years.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child at a time. David is a past President of the LafayetteKiwanis Club, and he later served as Lieutenant Governor of his District. In 2016, David Way was named Kiwanian of the year in recognition of his service to our community.

During his time in the Kiwanis Club of Lafayette, David has helped buy Christmas gifts for children through Operation Magi, helped raise funds to build Parc Independence in Girard Park, and still serves on the board and the committee which runs the annual high school football jamboree held at Cajun Field.

David Way is a leader in his community with a heart for service.

When we say David Way is a lifelong, conservative Republican, we mean it! As David joked in his campaign kickoff, he's been a proud Republican so long, he can remember supporting President Ford... when he was only four years old!

David Way is an Eagle Scout.
In 1987, after years of hard work and dedication, David earned the rank of Eagle Scout. This is an honor only approximately six percent of Boy Scouts achieve. Thirty-one years later, in 2018, David’s son, James, joined him as a proud Eagle Scout.
Both men continue to live by the Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty of God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
