I played my first url show of the quarantine last night and it was a fun escape. I’m tempted to write a long post about how much I miss my community and the irreplaceable moments we spent together in person, and how connection is the most important issue of this crisis. sharing space together makes life meaningful. finding respite in each other’s company, to remember our existence isn’t determined by the stories other people tell about us, the real great q***r art form of making something out of nothing. My heart keeps breaking for what we are losing. I don’t want to forfeit that for a computer screen. But for now I’m going to keep trying to enjoy these moments we make under these circumstances, I think. Miss you all terribly. 💕💕💕💕💕

Backstage last night ✨ dress, gloves, hair by me ty for having me

Throwback- me in my high school newspaper as the closeted president of the gay straight alliance when we took a day off of school to go to Jefferson City to protest for lgbt inclusion in anti bullying and anti discrimination policies. A couple of my teachers told me there would be no way for me to make up the lessons I missed since they didn’t see a student fighting for anti bullying policies as a necessary reason to miss school for a day so.....yeah. there were only 9 of us and we had to operate through the Spanish language department since school policy required a faculty members approval- shout out Señora Romano, the only faculty member we could find who would allow us to create the group. Today, a historic day for lgbt legal protections, where many of us feel anxious wondering what picture America will paint for our future, it’s amazing how much has changed, and how much stays the same. Let’s not lose faith- we will keep fighting to make it better for the ones who come next, regardless of what today’s outcome decides. Let’s also not lose passion- even when some protections reach us, there are others in our community who need more assistance- q***r poc, q***r immigrants, q***r undocumented persons, s*x workers, and more. We choose love, but we also choose resistance.
