Long time no post!

I am now offering free shipping again on items in my shop! It’s always tough to try figuring out how to price shipping with the cost of time and items, but I think I finally have it (mostly) figured out.

After tons of procrastination, I finally finished this little lion figure. I sculpted the head… like… two years ago and only added the mane, ears, and body within the last two weeks. I feel like it needs more but I just love adding weird little spot decorations to stuff. I wanna add more but I gotta resist. 😆

Just needs a protective matte varnish and then it’ll be good to go!

Some Spoopy skulls are now for sale in our Etsy shop! Took us a while to figure out how to paint them but the final results look great! no matter how I tried, the red skull looks fluorescent red even though it’s actually not that bright. Oh well, they all look neat in the dark once the electric candles are lit!

The Baron of Hell is nearly finished! I’ve been very bad with uploading photos here lately, so here’s the almost finished pictures I remembered to take of it. There’s just a few more touch ups Greg need to add and then the figure will be finished!

Working on something a little different! Our figures haven’t been selling as well lately, and I’ve been wanting to expand onto other things, so I’m taking a crack at making treasure chests out of cardboard. It’s tough as I’m absolutely terrible at cutting straight lines, but it’s been fun so far!

Working on the stegosaurus and I have an idea of how it’ll turn out. Inspired by peacocks and nicobar pigeons. 🦕 🐦 🦚

Don’t know where I’m going with this, but it’s getting somewhere! First time I’ve painted a figure in a while so I’m feeling a bit rusty. I’ve mostly been painting and working on bases for the last few months. 😆

Trying to give it a reddish hue to show that it’s a male juvenile. 🦖

Putting some white as a base layer for two of the newest sculptures. Now I need to decide what colors to paint them…

AAAAND IT’S DONE! Man, the base for Steelix was a pain in the butt to do, and although it turned out a lot different than what I originally imagined, it actually doesn’t look too bad! Reminds me a lot of the rocks you can find inside caves, which is where you can find Steelix. Originally I wanted to do exploding dirt, but we can say that these are now cave rocks. 🪨

Working on a stegosaurus! Trying out an idea with the b**g plates using Primo clay, which is a slightly flexible clay that is a little harder to crack. The other idea is to sculpt the spikes and the area around them, so when the time comes to ship, the plates can be removed and then the buyer can permanently glue them in place once received.

We really need to invest in some cosclay 😗

It’s photo booth time! A little rough around the edges, but I think they all turned out really well! Some are new photos for the Etsy shop, and some are reshoots since the original photos were not all that good.

Like my ghetto photo setup? 😂

I decided to splurge a bit and look into taking better photos for our Etsy page. We haven’t sold anything since February and I’ve gone through the shop’s listings time and time again to try updating the tags to satisfy the Etsy algorithm. Now I’m going to try taking nicer photographs of items and updating the listing images, hoping to catch more peoples’ attention as they scroll and browse. Fingers crossed!

The biggest issue now is that I’m out of nearby wall outlets to plug in the top light, and I’ll need a little iron or something to smooth out the wrinkles in the fabric. Let’s see how it goes! Anyone have tips and tricks to taking better photos using an iPhone?

Long time no post! Things have been rough lately so I need to buckle down and get some stuff listed on Etsy. So here’s four new items that I just listed in the shop! Check them out and please spread the word! Some extra finances would be very much appreciated. 🙏

Making some crystals out of polymer clay! These are supposed to be Moonstones from Pokémon (for the Nidoking base) but I can’t find a proper reference for the stone since it’s either green, gray, or a mix of colors with yellow and purple. So I decided to take some artistic liberty with this. It took a lot of time and effort with some experimentation with “transparent” clay and mica powders. Messy but the end result is great! 👩‍🎨

Aaaaand Nidoking! Although Greg says he hates it, his painting skills have come a long way! I have an idea of some kind of rocky base with purple since it’s supposed to be ground/poison type.

Greg’s on a roll with these semi-realistic Pokémon busts! Right now he’s making Feraligatr! 🐊

Finally finished the base for the Amargasaurus parent and baby! Took a while to figure it out and I’m happy about the base. Even pressed little pathways into the grass to show where they’ve been moving. Scientists think that they lived in savannah biomes so I decided to go with a tan grass with a tiny bit of green mixed in here and there. The rocks are made with styrofoam which was a fun experiment I’ve always wanted to try.

I reeeeeally need to find some indoor art shows near me. With these kinds of figures I’d be too afraid to ship them without possible breakage. 🦕

Greg sculpted and painted the bust, and I topped it with varnish. Just trying to figure out how we want to do the base. Should I paint it or should I stain it? I have some leftover dark stain from a previous commission and I’m trying to figure out how to use it again. 🤔 💭

Working on another base plus working on an idea of an ancient specie of the swordfish. Let’s see how this turns out! 🐠

Aaaaand she’s done! I nearly forgot to paint the base black but I love how this whole thing turned out. Once the base is finished being painted then we’ll give this figure a better photoshoot. 🦊 🪄

Mix a few different grass colors and WALLAH! GRASS!

Things are about to look a LOT cooler! Greg and I bought ourselves a Woodland Scenics Static King! You put static grass into the hopper (clear part) and an electric current run through it. You put some kind of clear drying adhesive anywhere you want the static grass to stick, put a grounding rod into the glue, and then shake the grass over it. It causes the grass to stand on end. I got this just before I had to run to work, and Greg isn’t big on decorating bases so I’ll have to try this baby out tomorrow when I’m off work. I can’t wait!
