If you have tried microdosing, but did not experience its benefits, chances are you might have missed one of the essential steps in this journey like I did.⁠⠀

1. The research phase: To set yourself up for success, build a strong foundation for your upcoming microdosing journey. The building blocks consist of accurate information, trusted sources, and success stories of others who have done microdosing before. Find answers to the following questions: What is microdosing? How do I prepare myself before taking small amounts of psychedelics? How often should I take these small amounts? ⁠⠀

2. Find your threshold: The second and most important phase of your microdosing journey is finding your threshold. When James Fadiman released his guide to microdosing, his recommendation was to intake one-tenth of a regular psychedelic dose. However, people soon realized that there is no “standard amount” for a microdose; everyone’s threshold was a bit different. ⁠⠀

3. Take notes every day: This will allow you to see what changed and what stayed the same. It can also inform you on how to continue, should you decide to do so.⁠⠀

Change is the one thing that we crave and fear the most. ⁠⠀

So, when it comes to incorporating a new element into our lives, especially one that offers the promise of a big change, we get excited and we resist it.⁠⠀
Incorporating a microdosing practise into your life can feel as if you are jumping off a cliff. And it's understandable, after all, it's a substance that shouldn't be taken lightly.⁠⠀

But, just like when you do something for the first time that scares you the most, the person you come on the other side is a new one, with a new perspective, with newfound confidence. ⁠⠀

The best way to incorporate a microdosing practise into your life is to take the first jump and then allow yourself to feel being in the change; observe the change and allow it to take over you without fighting it or adjusting it.⁠⠀

Just allow it to be there with you.

The first step into finding your dose is to know exactly how much you are taking, which means to measure accurately. Understanding where do you start, it will help you work your way up and find your threshold. ⁠⠀

Once you have your the means to measure accurately, your can prepare your doses. The rule of thumb is to start low and go slow. Generally, people are advised to start at a 1/10 of a regular dose of psilocybin mushrooms or L*D, but in my experience, that could be way to much. So, my suggestion is starting at 0.05g or psilocybin mushrooms or 0.5ug L*D. The magic lies in the fine tuning. You establish your baseline and then next time you dose you increase it by just a bit, 0.25g or psilocybin mushrooms or 0.25ug L*D and observe that.⁠⠀

The practice of microdosing is defined by taking a sub-perceptual amount of psychedelics to enjoy the benefits without having any psychedelic experience. This means that when you fine-tune your dose by increasing it bit by bit your will find your threshold. ⁠⠀
Past this, your microdosing practice turns into a very mild tripping experience. ⁠⠀
There are a few signs that your have taken too much and you’ve passed your threshold.⁠⠀
