All analog.
Digitally remastered 2018 from the original stereo half track at Ajawam Studios, Manassas, VA
This was improvised on the spot by Paul as he was tracking his album. He started playing to get levels for scratch tracks and I asked what it was. I told him to start over and hit record.
He tracked the main guitar and made up the lyrics as he went.
One take. He then overdubbed another guitar part, again in one take.
Louie then did that amazing drum part in one take. Note that up until the first chorus, there's only kick, high hat, and some crash cymbals.
And yea - those are roto-toms on the hi tom parts.
Bass is a Rick 4001 using the Ric-o-sound output (2 channels - one for each pickup).
Please Note - even though it may sound political, it really wasn't. To us in the studio at the time, it felt more like an early Fleetwood Mac tune.

Instrumental/Strings at the end of Million Miles Away...
And here's both parts of the bridge of New Song put together...
Here's just the instruments in the same bridge section of New Song...
Here's a vid of just the vocals in the middle/bridge section of New Song. I recall when we were recording that and looking for something that rhythmically accented what was going on there. Pretty cool how it all turned out. Jon really did an amazing job on that. Great to listen to on some headphones...
