Who am I?

I am Rochelle Moore, a Hertfordshire and London based registered Art Psychotherapist. I currently specialise in ASD and learning disabilities as well as having experience in mental health. My experience ranges from mainstream and SEN primary schools to community services and specialist therapy centres.

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art as a form of communication and expression. Art therapy can be used for many different people, people who struggle to verbally communicate through diagnosis or for many other reasons. Individuals can use art therapy to express and understand what is going on for them visually rather than trying to find the right words to say. Being creative can give everyone involved a better understanding of thoughts and feelings, that includes the individual receiving art therapy as well as their family, carers, and others. The art material acts as a voice, making it very beneficial for those with limited or no speech.

Art therapy can be used on a one to one basis or in groups; it can help to build confidence, aid motor skills, create a sense of agency, build resilience and allow for a better understanding of yourself and the world around you. Group art therapy can specifically help with communication and socialistion skills, it can also allow for participants to accept criticism and develop self-awareness from listening to others around them who are experiencing similar thoughts or feelings.

What materials to use?

The materials used in art therapy can vary, you do not have to stick with one material or one technique. Materials such as pens, pencils, paints, pastel, clay and much more are often seen during Art Therapy sessions. We can provide all of the materials required.

What type of sessions are available?

Individual sessions - 50 minutes per session
Group sessions - 1 hour 30 minutes per session
