This month marks the first anniversary of the publication of "The White Book". And I am truly grateful for all the love and support in my small venture. 

Back in February 2021, my publishers asked me whose name I would write on the dedication page. At that time, I was preparing to travel to Imphal because of my grandpa's failing health. In the past, whenever I visited him, I would excitedly shout from the gate, "Awo, i ung haira kho!" (meaning "Grandpa, I have arrived!"). And every time he would respond with a wide smile and say a prayer of thanksgiving.  But this time, when I called out to him, he didn't remember me. His failing health caused him to lose his memories.

That evening, as I sat by his bedside, he asked me to sing him a song. To save myself from the embarrassment of not having a melodious voice, I opened youtube and played a Tangkhul cover of "Blessed Redeemer" by Asung Pharung. Immediately, Grandpa began to sing along. He remembered every single word of this hymn. I could see a surge of energy and joy in him as he sang those words. Words that proclaimed the power and love of God. And every morning thereafter, I played hymns for him on my phone and he would sing along passionately.  

Grandpa forgot almost everything, but he never forgot about Christ. Every day he would instruct us to read the Bible and pray together. He was a man of God and he walked with God till the end. 

My brief time with him inspired me to dedicate my first book to him.  It saddened me that my book was released a few days after his demise. However, I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be with him in his last days.

The White in 'The White Book' symbolises peace and tranquillity, the serenity that comes by being in the presence of God.

This Children's Picture book hopes to remind us that, we are all hitchhikers on the same journey, travelling to be united with God for eternity in heaven.
