Last week I had the honor of returning full circle to speak to the students of my old high school Glenview Park Secondary School in Cambridge. Emotional return. I listened to their stories and talked about understanding ourselves and having empathy for others. It was like traveling back in time to give myself some advice. Brilliant times!

The death of the Queen is conflicting for me. I respect the passing of this formidable woman but what she represents is disgusting to those of us that grew up with her Governors, not Governor Generals. The crown is the soul of colonialism. How can I mourn her and not the many dead, robbed, conquered in her name and the name of the Crown?

One can't help but think: "good riddance!"

The answer, of course, is to mock it all, until the heavens rain laughter not tears. And I'm here for this!
