🥇 First place in the Wide-Angle category of our 2021 underwater photo contest — Viktor Lyagushkin, "Two Worlds"

"I dreamed of showing the difference between the surface and under-ice worlds in one shot," tells Scuba Diving magazine. "It was not an easy task: The difference in quantity of light under and over the ice was great. I also wanted to include a diver and something on the bottom of the frame. I did hundreds of dives looking for a place where I could combine all the details of my shot. Finally, I found it!"

Stay tuned, the underwater wonder continues this weekend! 🌊

: “It’s said that looks don’t matter. When it comes to shooting underwater and using model divers I find it so important to work with the best looking divers in the water, it makes my shooting so much easier. I’ve been a very active diver now for almost 28 years (October 4:th) and I’ve met and dived with so many people throughout the years. When I first dived in Mexico last winter I met the best of the best. In this image it’s Tamara master of trim, her and her super colleagues Kim, Patrick, Skanda etc are totally a few levels up from anything else I’ve seen underwater. Always perfect trim, gear extremely slim and always just so “dapper” Like the British would say!”Image is taken in April at The Pit in Tulum

By far the best wreck and one of the top wreck dives Alex Dawson had was the last dive on MT Haven last month. He and were cruising around this massive ship on their like two young boys on a free fun fair. The incredible chimney that you see in the picture starts 32m below the surface and the deck of the ship in the aft is about 57m. They felt like watching a skyscraper underwater. They went for a short visit to the top of the chimney and met a Mola Mola up there. Image is shot with the Nikon Z7 II ISO64 1/50 f5,6

Here is in a shaft that leads from 45m level down to 67m level, most likely totally blinded by the light held by Santeri Suominen.

The temp is allways around 4’c inside the tunnels but our Sidewinders work flawlessly throughout the whole 150 min dive.

Exploring the beautiful Mexican Cenotes / Caverns in this world is more than just diving for me. It feels sacred, spiritual and you feel absolutely connected with nature.
Did you know that many Cenotes are conntected to each other, like a big system?

Alex Dawson 🇸🇪] likes thinking outside the box and creating new stuff.

“This is a wild experiment while having to much sugar in front of my computer a rainy day. I kind of like it but I’m really not sure what you guys think. Please let me know in the comments down below what you think. Image is taken in Gulen, Norway from my first dive ever with the fabulous Nikon Nikkor 8-15 fisheye that is so amazing.
Last two weeks has been very busy with a new super cool project and the images will eventually be shown here to. Have a great weekend”

Congratulations ! Today we welcome Stockholm-based underwater photographer Alex Dawson to the team. Alex specializes in underwater wrecks and cave diving, capturing moments we rarely see ourselves.
“I find a lot of inspiration in nature photography, but I also like to try new things that have never been shot before, and that takes a lot of thinking and planning before I can try it underwater.”

Alex currently shoots with the Z 7II and has found the switch from the D850 very easy.
“I feel like the Z 7II is extremely similar to the Nikon D850 I’ve used for the past 3.5 years and it’s at least equally good or better since it’s much better at video.”

Here are his top three shooting tips you may find useful:
1. Know your environment and conditions well.
2. Make sure you use the right gear especially shooing in low light environments.
3. Put a lot of energy in developing your RAW development skills so you can take the full advantage in post processing of what these cameras can capture

NEWLY RELEASED images by the NTSB of the Transair flight 810 crash, a converted B737-200 freighter, off the coast of Oahu just 11 minutes after takeoff from Honolulu back on July 2 🤨 The cargo plane was on its way to Kahalui in Maui, but experienced trouble with both Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines. The pilots couldn't maintain altitude and had no choice but to ditch the plane. Both pilots survived with serious injuries…

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the accident.

Vortex is a webapp specially made for scuba divers within Recreational limits. It contains full of useful utilities which make complex calculations very easy.

Although several small apps exist helping you to plan your dives or calculate some limited basic calculations, we decided to invest the time to create a more in depth app useful for every diver at every level.

Furthermore, a database of the most important dangerous Marine animals is provided including a summary of various injuries such as slab or bite wounds, poisonings as well as prevention and aftercare. Tips are given for administrating the first care after contact with a specific dangerous marine animal.

MT Haven is any wreck divers dream wreck! With a GWT of 233 000 tones and a width of 52m. So far 3 dives done with approximately 45-50min bottom times and 60-70min deco. It’s so big that there are micro visibility zones on the wreck so it can be great on one side and really poor on the other. Today we visited the huge propeller at 78m to

A great memory from my deepest mine dive from earlier this spring. Me and Jimmy & Roger went to the 75m level (83m) in in Sweden to see some new cool places. Diving to those depths was a new experience with some of the equipment but nothing that couldn’t be solved

Chan Hol was a quite interesting dive the first time. The rain had been falling for weeks so the visibility in the tiny hole in the ground that was out entrance was just a mud pool with zero vis. holding tight onto the cave line I made my way into the darkness, it was maybe not so long but it felt like forever before I finally made it in to the beautiful cave. This dive was One of the best memories from last autumn in Tulum
