Blooming Thoughts of Self.
Boy, I haven't done any art for months. I've had a lot of thoughts though. Lying in bed with pain wracking your body does that to a person. Is this a sign that I'm slowly recovering? Or will that bloom fade tomorrow, and I'll head for some post-exertional malaise (which I can get from simply THINKING, ugh!). Anyway, I'm glad to be back doing a real post. Good Monday to you!
PS If you haven't noticed, I'm putting a lot in my Stories, when I can. Take a look.
This 12 or is it 18" very large board was a joy to make, and is still available. Currently on display at a local store. 😊
I'm looking over some old work, drawing inspiration. This one for Spring!
Step one in working on a still life, sketching it out. She's changed from a vase to a woman, much more to my liking (I was sketching it from flowers in a vase and thought...this needs a profile!). Happy Sunday, all.
An oldy but still true....
Today's prompt from is "the hardest thing." For me, the hardest thing is not knowing when my body will flare, and be subject to some very severe pain, seizures, and fatigue, keeping me in bed. My simple drawing tries to capture that uncertainty.

I never make resolutions for the year. What's the point? A to-do list for the entire year? I can't even remember my list for the day. The morning. I mean , am I right?
This year, though, is different. I'm more sick than I've ever been, and more ready to take bold steps. Some might say radical ones. Surgery? Yes. I'm looking. I'm in. I'll keep you posted. 😘
With , you really miss life. I miss seeing my kids, seeing them at college, high school, and out in the world. I miss seeing the damn sun! The wind, the trees. Cooking. Oh man, I miss slicing into a purple cabbage and admiring its beauty (even its smell). I miss the smallest things because I just do, and because I cannot miss the really big things. It's too hard. Too big and too sharply painful, in an inner world already filled with pain.
Our mantra is to take one day at a time. One foot in front of the other. One dream each. is like that. You count the smallest blessings. You love the smallest things. Even hope. We hold hope behind our backs or in front of us like the tiniest, most blue and fragile egg. 🩵
But this year, I'm going to dream big. I'm going to miss the big things in life and if it hurts more, well, that's how much deeper I'm going to dive. I mean, we can handle pain. A LOT of pain. This is one time in my 11 years of and when I'm just going to say, bring it. Because I want to go big or go home this year.
2024 is my year to really really try. And to really truly hope. Because it's not just birds outside calling my name. It's the world. 💙✨️✨️

Right?? 😁
Winter is still descending in the Pacific Northwest. I took this photo of my front yard this morning and overlaid it with another that held more shadows, because Spring is there--in the shadows and in the green grass pushing through. I even have tulips pushing up. Happy Friday, all!

Spring. 16x20" acrylic on canvas.
In between working on my earring Horde, I've been pouring some resin. I have several new pieces to show you! For a long time, I rejected working with too many natural things in my resin, because that's a bit like copying to me. I mean, everyone does it. Why? Because it's so darn pretty! To wit, these trays and pencil holder...I love how the matte white makes the small trays look frosted, and yes, I love all of the natural things in the resin. 🤓🤓🤗🤗 To second looks and reconsidering biases. Happy Thursday.

These are our wedding flowers in resin, with a few pearls and wax initials added. I used this wonderful gilt wax I found , using bought there too, that rubs on then dries hard. So I just rubbed our initials through some stencils (making a little flower on the A) and waited for it to dry! So easy and impactful.
Custom orders available. DM for inquiry. 👩🎨👩🎨
Resin gems, waiting for new homes. Will they grace your table? 🥂🥂
My Blick Art frames came in for my 16x20" paintings, and I love them! They make all the difference, really letting the colors pop. I've just set these in the frames and haven't actually adhered them in yet, because I have some sanding to do on the resin piece(s). I've been waiting for these semi-DIY frames to come in so I can list these pieces on my Etsy site. They'll be the first original art paintings I'll be listing! Coming soon. 😊
Polygirl. I’m teching up! I finally got my iPad up and running again, with Procreate and other cool stuff on it; have my Selfie Station; and a MacBook. I’ll be using my camera more now, too. We’ll see if ANY of this helps make my gram brighter, lol.
