It was an emotional day as we got to see Kona after a year of formal TLC training and meet her new partner Josh. Josh is a Marine Veteran who has served 2 duties in Afghanistan. He lives in Ohio, so we won’t be seeing them but he would like to keep us updated.

Today we received a call from GDA-TLC ,one that every Puppy Raiser hopes to get, that Kona will be graduating Saturday May 4th. We are so proud of what she has accomplished and can’t wait to see her at graduation 🎓🐕‍🦺

KONA’S UPDATE 🐾

This month the trainers have been busy teaching me a lot of new-fun challenging tasks. Like picking up my bowl, putting it away, retrieving it and bringing it back to my trainer. I also had a fun experience traveling to Las Vegas, spending the weekend representing GDA-TLC, and meeting my sponsor SCS ELEVATOR PRODUCTS representative Mark Munson at the campus of Guide Dogs of America.
The best part is wishing everyone a “HAPPY HOLIDAY “🎄🎁 and “HAPPY NEW YEAR”🎉🐾

MOVING IN DAY!!

This weekend was when Kona and her litter mates returned to GDA-TLC CAMPUS to start theirAdvanced Training.Thank you GDA-TLC for the nice luncheon, explaining the transition to college life, and getting them settled with their roommate and kennel. RAIN CHALLENGE ☔️
A Saturday morning training session in the pouring rain with our GDA-TLC trainer Hanna and pups in training was very successful. We exchanged handlers so they could learn to work with other people and experience the many different wet surfaces such as boulders-rocks, kids playground equipment, and sand.

2023 BRINGS NEW CHALLENGES FOR KONA

Kona has received her letter of “CONGRATULATIONS” and will be returning to Guige Dogs of America-Tender Loving Canine Campus February 11th. for her advanced training. It helps to think of it as her “letter of acceptance to College”. She will live on campus and work with the trainers to determine what field is best for her. The challenges will be endless. 🐾

NIGHT TRAINING

What seems normal too a puppy during the day often is scary at night. So with the time change this weekend and darkness coming much earlier we did some night training with staff and other puppy raisers. We practiced waiting at signal lights, crossing intersections with on going traffic, walking around the outdoor mall, and going into shops. Awesome experience for all!!😊

THE ARRIVAL OF OCTOBER !!

October has arrived and that means it’s Fall, with cooler temperatures, football, and Pumpkins!! Kona along with her “Special Friends “ are hoping everyone at SCS ELEVATOR PRODUCTS are enjoying the Harvest Season.

What better way too stay cool and beat Flex Alerts than visiting Costco. Here Kona discovered a real “cool” Mickey (that played music) and a huge Frosty the Snowman.
