On August 8, 1973, The Alpha Kappa Rho Fraternity was founded by sixteen college students of the University of Santo Tomas headed by FF Jose "Boy" Chua making UST as the Mother Chapter.
Sometime in 1975, The Alpha Kappa Rho Sorority was founded.
In September 30, 2016, Brod. Utoy Correa, AKP-UST '16 officially re-established the Mother Chapter with the help of the Core Group of Metro Manila Intercollegiate Council and Community Chapters near UST headed by Brod. Teryo Nacional.
The first recruits were Brod. Mark Basmayor, AKP-UST '16, Brod. Keanu "Rhyz" Quinto, AKP-UST '16, Brod. Kevin Quinto, AKP-UST '16, Brod. Sean Aparente, AKP-UST '16, Brod. Jarred Ortega, AKP-UST '16, Brod. Miggy Marcelo, AKP-UST '16, Brod Rakz Tolentino, AKP-UST '16 and Brod. Aljon Bautista, AKP-UST '16.
To date, The Alpha Kappa Rho - University of Santo Tomas Chapter has produced numerous alumni and professionals.
