I was the proud owner of The Green Goddess, a 1998 Plymouth Voyager, for about five years. GG had a tape deck (because of course she did), and the two cassettes that got the most love were KISS - Alive II and Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell. Meat Loaf was one of those singers that put everything into his art. Similar to George Jones or Ronnie James Dio, it didn’t matter how ridiculous the premise of the lyrics were, listening to the sheer conviction in which Meat Loaf delivered them meant that you were forced to buy in. “You’ve been cold to me so long I’m crying icicles instead of tears”, I’ve been there too, bud. Rest easy, sorry heaven couldn’t wait any longer.

Ask and you shall receive; two Fletch shows in the next week that are outdoors and early evening! First up is this Saturday for Dead Horses with Fletcher Magellan at Caponi Art Park in Eagan! Doors at 5:30, we'll be on at 6:30. According to the Caponi folks we'll be performing in a "Theater in the Woods," which sounds right up our alley.

Film Festival
The amazing video work by PLQ Productions on "Years Long Day" has been accepted into Denali's first ever film festival!!
Hosted by Highway Walkers Media at the Denali Education Center this Friday, July 19th.
While most of us here in the Midwest won't be able to attend the festival, it's good to know the music of our new EP will be celebrated in the place that inspired it all. Ironically both events are happening on the same day!! Come celebrate it all with us!

A Years Long Day
Last year we invited our friend and filmmaker Victoria Carpenter of PLQ Productions to visit us in Alaska, and document what it is that makes that place so special for us. 'Years Long Day' is something of a companion piece to the new record. We are, as Cody puts it, trying to "bring far away folks to our front door".
Our short-film has been edited down from over 60 hours of footage that Victoria captured, and we couldn't be more proud of it. The sounds as well as the sights in this wilderness are what inspired the songs on 'Month Long Day'.
This footage was shot on location in Denali National Park and Preserve at the Eilson Visitor Center, Denali National Park, on the Thorofare River, at Emmalyn and Cody's property north of Denali, at Kantishna Air Taxi and Skyline Lodge and in Serac, our cabin that we've called home the last four summers.

Our Story
Fletcher Magellan plays Cosmic Country. What's that mean, anyway? This Minneapolis-based six-piece draws influence, instruments, and imagery from gospel, R&B, and psychedelic rock along with both kinds of music (country and western).
"Fletch" has performed at Mid West Music Fest in Winona, Big Turn Music Fest in Red Wing, and Kantishna Music Festival in Denali National Park, Alaska (where members Cody Fitzpatrick and Emmalyn Kayser spend their summer months).
Month Long Day, Fletcher Magellan’s soon-to-be-released EP, is a collection of observations, adventures and reflections from Cody’s time in one of the last true wilderness areas in the world. The release show is Friday 19 July at the Hook & Ladder Theater in Minneapolis.
