Our chairman note on PHARMACIST DAY
2023 year’s theme is “Pharmacists strengthening health systems“.
Why this theme?
This year’s theme aims to present opportunities to increase awareness of pharmacists as an intelligent solution for health services to meet future needs of health systems around the world after COVID-19 crisis. The campaign creates awareness of its value and continued potential to improve health. FIP’s mission for 2023: Let pharmacies do more.
The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) invites colleagues from all sectors of the pharmacy profession to take part in the campaign and show the world how we are united for health, regardless of and overcoming conflict, different politics and cultures, and economic disparity.
“The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 3 sets out a number of health targets, including for non-communicable diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and mental health) and communicable diseases (for example, HIV, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases). We have seen improvements in many of these areas and our profession should be proud of and make known its contributions. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered progress and it is imperative that we rally to build back better,” said FIP president Mr Dominique Jordan.

"Pharmacy strengthening health systems"' is the theme of World Pharmacists Day on Monday.

At a time when health systems around the world are recovering from the COVID-19 crisis and the general consensus is that urgent action is needed for health services to meet future needs, the FIP said, adding this year’s World Pharmacists Day campaign presents opportunities to increase awareness of pharmacists as an intelligent solution.

The World Pharmacists Day campaign is an opportunity for pharmacy to celebrate its achievements in supporting societies, but also to make its value and further potential in improving health known.

Glimpse of Hand Hygiene awareness program

16/09/2023

We S.K Sarfuddin Charitable Trust ( PULSE HEALTHCARE) arranged the hand Hygiene awareness program in primary schools as we believe that One of the most important ways staff and children in schools can stay healthy is by keeping their hands clean throughout the day. In fact, school-based and Early Care and Education (ECE) programs promoting hand hygiene can result in less gastrointestinal and respiratory illness and fewer missed days. That’s why it’s important to encourage cleaning hands at key times with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not readily available

The relationship between a teacher and a student is pure and highly inspirational. The foundation of this relationship is understanding and mutual respect. Having students who wish you on your birthdays, teacher’s day and send you presents are rare to find.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank every one of my students. I appreciate your unwavering commitment to your studies, your compassion for your classmates, and your dedication to self-improvement.

Our pulse health care team had organised the least talked content with AGANBADI worker Mrs kusuma about MENSTRUAL HYGIENE.
A step ahead towards social service ...
Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) is essential to the well-being and empowerment of women and adolescent girls.  On any given day, more than 300 million women worldwide are menstruating.  In total, an estimated 500 million lack access to menstrual products and adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management (MHM). To effectively manage their menstruation, girls and women require access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities, affordable and appropriate menstrual hygiene materials, information on good practices, and a supportive environment where they can manage menstruation without embarrassment or stigma.

According to the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme 2012, menstrual hygiene management is defined as:

“Women and adolescent girls are using a clean menstrual management material to absorb or collect menstrual blood, that can be changed in privacy as often as necessary, using soap and water for washing the body as required, and having access to safe and convenient facilities to dispose of used menstrual management materials. They understand the basic facts linked to the menstrual cycle and how to manage it with dignity and without discomfort or fear.”

The challenges that menstruating girls, women, and other menstruators face encompass more than a basic lack of supplies or infrastructure.  While menstruation is a normal and healthy part of life for most women and girls, in many societies, the experience of menstruators continues to be constrained by cultural taboos and discriminatory social norms. The resulting lack of information about menstruation leads to unhygienic and unhealthy menstrual practices and creates misconceptions and negative attitudes, which motivate, among others, shaming, bullying, and even gender-based violence. For generations of girls and women, poor menstrual health and hygiene is exacerbating social and economic inequalities, negatively impacting their education, health, safety, and human development.
