Hello! We want to invite you to join the new boat in 2024! We’re launching an around-the-world sailing expedition and you can apply now on our website www.waterpeople.world

Depending on where we are, we’ll be sailing, surfing, kiting, freediving and we can’t wait to do it with you. Starting in Europe in 2024 we’ll continue in the following years to the Caribbean, South Pacific and SE Asia. Full itinerary on the website. We’re looking for people to join for at least a few weeks at a time.

Along the way we’ll be documenting the adventure, action, and creating original stories to advocate for the protection of marine and coastal environments.

For the last year we’ve devoted ourselves to learning to live from the sea and to make a film about it. It’s finished and we’re excited to be submitting it to film festivals! As soon as it’s available to view we’re going to let you know 🤙🍿 The goal was to become more self-sufficient and lower our environmental footprint when it comes to food. A (mostly) wind-powered journey of 3000+ nautical miles brought us to fisherman, freedivers and scientists who shared their specialist skills and knowledge. We wanted to know if we could learn to live from our surrounds? Can seafood be sustainable and is it an ethical choice? We hope it comes across as an uplifting adventure and a chance to consider our relationship with the natural world! Thanks so much to the Lighthouse Foundation, Patreon supporters, and the others (who know who they are) that helped us to make it happen. Special thanks to all those who shared their time and knowledge with us.

Farewell Cherry Ripe! After 5+ years of liveaboard we’ve passed her on to new owners. She’s allowed us to chase our biggest adventures and it’s quite emotional to say goodbye 🥹 What started as an idea to spend a few months exploring Scotland quickly became a continuous journey that’s transformed our lives in the best possible way. Rather than it being an ending it’s very much a new beginning! We’ve been busy plotting a new adventure on the seas, and can’t wait to tell you about it soon!!!

Would you like to vote for us? We're in the running for the 'Waterperson of the year' category at the International Cruisers Awards. You can vote by clicking the thumbs up button here: https://zealous.co/youngcruisersassociation/opportunity/Cruising-Sport/results/submissions Thanks if you're able to do that for us! As you might know we have devoted the last year to learn freediving and spearfishing as a means to exploring sources of food that might be more environmentally friendly in our ocean lifestyle. The film we're making about it is called WATER PEOPLE and we're in the final stages at the moment. This contest could give a bit of exposure to the project which needs an audience to have the positive impact we're hoping for! Many thanks, and hope you like the quick teaser video in this post, Tim and Mitch :)

New video on YouTube! The quest to learn to live from the sea takes us to the British Virgin Islands where we meet Captain Frenchy who knows a lot about lobster! Watch the full video at https://youtu.be/aysLX1gEnko

NEW PROJECT!… Two years ago we set out for a life on the sea, learning to move by the wind and take our power from the sun. Yet, somehow, we’re still eating fish from a tin! We’re on our way to The Bahamas, on a quest to learn lost skills, to learn to hunt and forage, and to see if there’s a sustainable way to do it! While we work towards a full 'film' we're going to bring you 'Making Of' videos on YouTube. Stay tuned for the first episode and a livestream Q&A coming soon! We are happy to say that this project is part-funded by The Lighthouse Foundation. The Lighthouse Foundation supports integrated and long-term approaches in the relationship between humans and the marine environment within the context of sustainable development. We are hoping to raise the remainder of the project expenses with viewer contributions. Chapter 4!
Chapter 4 is now ready to watch! https://youtu.be/HQQBEjB-qk0 Cherry Ripe is our home and of course we were thinking about changing the name to something that has meaning too us. But apparently it's bad luck to change the name of a boat. In this chapter we get out sailing and learn more about the history of our boat and the origins of her name. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did creating it, and let us know what you think, Tim & Mitch x PS: Special thanks to our patron Stephen on helping to make this one happen.
