A huge congratulations to A2Z Triathlete who has been selected for the British Age Group team to compete at the World Championships next year!

Only 9 months into her triathlon journey, and a year after beating cancer, Laura put herself on a start-line against much more experienced athletes than herself, and defied the odds to qualify ๐Ÿ’ฅ

There is so much more to come from this inspirational athlete, I am loving sharing her journey.

Another busy weekend for A2Z triathletes!

โœจWelsh Champion๐Ÿ† โœจ
One week after being awesome at Swansea 70.3, Laura St. John continues to defy all the odds - Laura became Welsh aquathlon champion in her age group with a fantastic all around performance!

MJ also raced at the Welsh aquathlon championships, and despite facing a very physical, tough swim, MJ got through the race and put together one of her best ever 5km runs.

Angharad Jones competed in Chester 10k, after a consistent few months of training, Angharad demonstrated that sheโ€™s well on the way to being ready for her A race later in the year and learning lots to take forwards.

As always, itโ€™s a total pleasure to work with these awesome athletes who continue to balance busy careers and personal lives with consistent training and ambition to achieve and improve ๐Ÿฉต

Let us know if we can help you on your way to your triathlon goals!

LCW Tenby 2023 - first multi sport event in 4 years and first one at the longest distance.
Was over the moon to head into the final day in 2nd overall, and finish off in 4th behind 3 incredible ladies with the speediest run legs.
Swim - 4th 59:01
Bike - 4th 6:30:25
Run - 4th 3:28:20
Overall - 4th 10:57:48

A great weekend of work from A2Z triathletes and ๐ŸŒŸ

Laura celebrated being 1 year in remission from cancer in her own way, by tackling her first aquabike (swim-bike) race in Stewartby, Bedford. Laura incredibly had the fastest swim in her AG and finished 4th in category. Laura is a true inspiration with her resilience and strong character, itโ€™s great to see the hard work rewarded so brilliantly ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

MJ competed at Cardiff Triathlon Super Sprint. MJ finished in the top 10 females overall. MJ is demonstrating great improvements across all disciplines on the way to her big goals later this year ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Found this wonderful memory deep in the archives this week ๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ†.

Itโ€™s been quite the journey from finishing 3rd in 5years and under vault in my local club championships in 1997, all the way to running my first marathon last weekend!

Physiologically, the vault in gymnastics and the marathon couldnโ€™t be more different from each other. This made me contemplate how all of our journeys in sport are so varied, and how we have different experiences, training histories and physiological make up.

Itโ€™s important to remember that itโ€™s never too late to change focus and do something thatโ€™s a bit different or something that scares you โœจ

Answer the poll in our story - tell us where your sporting life started, and if we can help with your journey

Who loves a bit of Winter racing?! โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Weโ€™re having so much fun mixing it up with cross country, trail races, swimming galas, zwift racing and Parkrun!

The winter grind can certainly drag on, especially in February / March, when the summer of racing seems so close, but so far away ๐ŸŒฅ๏ธ.

Itโ€™s important to get race sharp, iron out any race day rituals, and make any small race errors before those big goals come knocking. But finding the balance between training and racing can be difficult too โš–๏ธ.

Over the next few weeks, A2Z triathletes are racing at the Hoka Trail Half Marathon, Welsh cross country championships, Monaco trail race, Zwiftโ€™s WGT Series, Cardiff Running 10/20, local cross country leagues and loads more!! ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŽ–๏ธ๐Ÿ†

Let us know in our storyโ€ฆwhat is your favourite way to get race-ready ?! โ˜๐Ÿผโ˜๐Ÿผ

Race days in the sun feel like a whole world away right now! Whether thatโ€™s upcoming 2023 events, or the highs of 2022 race season, we really canโ€™t get further away from triathlon in the sun than we are right now!

Before knuckling down and focussing on 2023 goals, take some time to reflect on 2022, remember your achievements and spend time being proud of them.

It could be that youโ€™ve achieved a certain race distance for the first time, set a new a PB, returned from injury or stayed injury free. You might have hit some consistency in your training, or have you even set yourself a scary goal for next year?! These achievements donโ€™t only have to be triathlon-relatedโ€ฆHave you realised a new work-related goal? Travelled somewhere youโ€™ve always wanted to? Or found that sweet spot of work-life balance?

What did you do in 2022 that youโ€™re proud of? Let us know!

Christmas training ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ

Everyone sees this time of year differently when it comes to training. For some, the time off work can mean โ€œtraining camp, letโ€™s go!โ€ For others, itโ€™s the perfect opportunity for a break and quiet family time.

Your plans can be forced, however, as it can be hard to find as much pool time as you need, due to closures. Whilst the weather outside is a bit brutal and can be unsafe for training.

I like to get involved in festive-themed events, take the opportunity to see sporting friends from all over the area, and generally just mix it up with trail runs and off-road riding. Thereโ€™s a long time until race season, so enjoy the opportunity to socialise, dig out the Santa outfit and find your inner child.

Donโ€™t lose sight of your goals, but also remember to spice it up and have fun with friends and training pals.

Nadolig Llawen, pawb! Merry Christmas!

Balance โš–๏ธ

Happy Friday, wonderful humans!

As full-time workers, it can be really easy to look at the weekend as a time to cram a lot of training in and do absolutely nothing else. But remember how important it is to achieve balance between training, work, social time, family time and recovery ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

While the weekend is a great opportunity to do those long bike rides and long runs that you canโ€™t squeeze into mid-weekโ€ฆdonโ€™t forget to plan some TV time, time with friends, time to eat nice food and even a party too, just to keep the brain fresh ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

Just as work/life balance is really important, itโ€™s important to keep the same perspective on training. Always remember, sport started as a hobby for the pure enjoyment of it. Youโ€™ll be the best athlete you can while still feeling that love ๐Ÿ’ซ

Cheers to the weekend ๐Ÿฅ‚
