MJ also raced at the Welsh aquathlon championships, and despite facing a very physical, tough swim, MJ got through the race and put together one of her best ever 5km runs.

A great weekend of work from A2Z triathletes and ๐
Laura celebrated being 1 year in remission from cancer in her own way, by tackling her first aquabike (swim-bike) race in Stewartby, Bedford. A huge congratulations to Raeanna Grainger who put together a fantastic performance in Cotswolds 113 triathlon yesterday ๐ฅ
Rae had a goal of breaking 6 hours and absolutely blew that to pieces with a fantastic 5h38mins, despite a nasty tumble on the run, and finished 4th in her age group ๐ฅ
Most importantly, Rae executed her race plan and learned a lot, which she can take forward to her โAโ race later this year ๐ช๐ผ

One proud coach over here ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ very excited to see what A2Z triathletes can do in 2023 ๐ฉต
Found this wonderful memory deep in the archives this week ๐คธ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐.
Itโs been quite the journey from finishing 3rd in 5years and under vault in my local club championships in 1997, all the way to running my first marathon last weekend!
Physiologically, the vault in gymnastics and the marathon couldnโt be more different from each other. This made me contemplate how all of our journeys in sport are so varied, and how we have different experiences, training histories and physiological make up.
Itโs important to remember that itโs never too late to change focus and do something thatโs a bit different or something that scares you โจ

Who loves a bit of Winter racing?! โ๏ธ๐ฅ
Weโre having so much fun mixing it up with cross country, trail races, swimming galas, zwift racing and Parkrun! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ๐ด๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ด๐ฝ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐๐ฝ
The winter grind can certainly drag on, especially in February / March, when the summer of racing seems so close, but so far away ๐ฅ๏ธ.
Itโs important to get race sharp, iron out any race day rituals, and make any small race errors before those big goals come knocking. But finding the balance between training and racing can be difficult too โ๏ธ.
Over the next few weeks, A2Z triathletes are racing at the Hoka Trail Half Marathon, Welsh cross country championships, Monaco trail race, Zwiftโs WGT Series, Cardiff Running 10/20, local cross country leagues and loads more!! ๐

Let us know in our storyโฆwhat is your favourite way to get race-ready ?! โ๐ผโ๐ผ
Race days in the sun feel like a whole world away right now! Whether thatโs upcoming 2023 events, or the highs of 2022 race season, we really canโt get further away from triathlon in the sun than we are right now!
Before knuckling down and focussing on 2023 goals, take some time to reflect on 2022, remember your achievements and spend time being proud of them.
It could be that youโve achieved a certain race distance for the first time, set a new a PB, returned from injury or stayed injury free. You might have hit some consistency in your training, or have you even set yourself a scary goal for next year?! These achievements donโt only have to be triathlon-relatedโฆHave you realised a new work-related goal? Travelled somewhere youโve always wanted to? Or found that sweet spot of work-life balance?
What did you do in 2022 that youโre proud of? Let us know!
Christmas training ๐๐
๐ผ
Everyone sees this time of year differently when it comes to training. For some, the time off work can mean โtraining camp, letโs go!โ For others, itโs the perfect opportunity for a break and quiet family time.
Your plans can be forced, however, as it can be hard to find as much pool time as you need, due to closures. Whilst the weather outside is a bit brutal and can be unsafe for training.
I like to get involved in festive-themed events, take the opportunity to see sporting friends from all over the area, and generally just mix it up with trail runs and off-road riding. Thereโs a long time until race season, so enjoy the opportunity to socialise, dig out the Santa outfit and find your inner child.
Donโt lose sight of your goals, but also remember to spice it up and have fun with friends and training pals.
Nadolig Llawen, pawb! Merry Christmas!
Testimonial Tuesday!!!
After 4 years of working together, Siรดn has taken huge steps with improving his fitness, and self belief has gone through the roof!! 2023 is going to be bigโฆ
โZoe has taken me from believing a sprint triathlon was an endurance event, to Ironman aspirations. Sheโs also made me believe I could actually beat Geth soon, which I never thought possible!!โ
Do you want to beat your mates? Let us know how we can help !!
Brilliant work from A2Z triathlete today, who did a PB at the Brighton 10km of 46:07!! Sophie has carried her 70.3 race fitness into winter training, ready to build for a big 2023 ๐ช๐ผ
Balance โ๏ธ
Happy Friday, wonderful humans!
As full-time workers, it can be really easy to look at the weekend as a time to cram a lot of training in and do absolutely nothing else. But remember how important it is to achieve balance between training, work, social time, family time and recovery ๐ซถ๐ป
While the weekend is a great opportunity to do those long bike rides and long runs that you canโt squeeze into mid-weekโฆdonโt forget to plan some TV time, time with friends, time to eat nice food and even a party too, just to keep the brain fresh ๐.
Just as work/life balance is really important, itโs important to keep the same perspective on training. Always remember, sport started as a hobby for the pure enjoyment of it. Youโll be the best athlete you can while still feeling that love ๐ซ
Cheers to the weekend ๐ฅ
